I need to get myself a proper walkman - reasonable priced - as in a price that will allow me to be able to take it to high school with me with out any worries of it being destroyed. I'd prefer it to be a CD-Player, but a minidisc player is fine. please bear in mind that i desperately want the mega-bass thingy, with the wierd connection. y'know. a row of pins.

meh.

I have an RCA Lyra MP3 player. You can get something equivalent to it for £65 from SR. It plays MP3s, and WMA files. Seeing as you can rip WMAs from Media Player it is very handy. Plus WMAs take up less space than an MP3.

So far it has been great. You plug it into the PC and just click to move files over. 11 hours from a single AAA battery.

I would go with an MP3 player. Plus it can't skip.

CD Player (sony)- Cheaper, Ideal, entirely Compatible with earphones, but only small enough to go in bag, worn on back, top pocket - easily opened, and perhaps damaged when i'm not around.

Minidisc (sony)- Expensive, Compatible, small enough to keep close to me, so it's safe. decent ones go into three-digit-figures.

MP3 Player (sony)- Priced similar to CD, Entirely compatible with earphones, small enough to go anywhere (expect up there), but they don't make any!

help!

They're all too much! recmmendations must consider the fact that i'm taking this thing to school with me. CD player goes in bag - MP3 player goes in pocket. even though in my pocket it is %100 safe, i still can't be confident that i won't lose it or it will get bashed. im in year 10 and things are calming down, but still...

another important factor is headphones - it was only the other day i received my MDR-EX71SLB's from unbeatable.co.uk, and therefore sony is a preferable choice of brand as they will be ENTIRELY compatible with the CD-Player.

and i'd also like to emphasize that the electronic enhancement-type thingy with the electronic control and wierd connection thingy (don't know it's name yet) is also the deciding factor. i have heard it in action and it is excellent.
