What do you think will cause it? It is going to end for sure, because the sun will burn out, but that won't be for billions of years and I'm inclined to think that mankind will end along time before then. So what will it be?

A nuclear war?
An asteroid collision?
Machines taking control?
The "grey goo" theory?
The prophesies in Revelations occuring?

Or something else?

Coincidentally, here is an extract from todays AOL news:

Asteroid Collision
Warning for 2014

SCIENTISTS are to monitor an asteroid that could hit Earth in eleven years.

The UK Government's Near Earth Object Centre says American astronomers have discovered a large, fast-approaching asteroid that could impact on 21 March, 2014.

But they add the chances of it doing so are just 1 in 909,000.

What is more, any risk of an impact is likely to decrease as further data is gathered.

Although the chances this asteroid will hit the Earth are slim, it is considered worth monitoring due to its sheer size and velocity.

The rock is said to measure approximately two-thirds of a mile across - only one-tenth of the size of the meteor thought to have wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

It is travelling at a speed of about 20 miles per second.

In theory such an asteroid could cause devastation across an entire continent. It has been labelled '2003 QQ 47' and astronomers will be monitoring it closely for the next two months.

If films have taught us nothing else, it is that when the end of the world arrives, it will be a very exciting time with invincible robots, massive guns, people running up walls in slow motion, lots of Kung Fu, and plenty of sunglasses.

Bring it ON!

I think the end of mankind will be due to natural causes, no wars or human error.

Maybe an asteroid collision?

The moon is technically a star - Will it "explode" ?

I think the end of mankind will be due to a plague, something lik a more advanced version of the black death. It'll probably be released by George Bush on Syria, and will proceed to uncontrollably spread, like the killer bee. Or, looking at my 8 yr old computer over there, i reckon itll be from some form of machine, but not because they program themselves to kill, but because someone puts a virus around the network. Well, theres my ideas, take 'em or leave 'em.

Moon is a star?

er..clearly I've missed something then.

I think the most likely chance is humans destroying themselves in some grand war to be honest.

Either that or we last until the sun swallows us and we havne't found anywhere else to live.

Seriously, I don't think there will be an end now. We've demonstrated a tremendous capability to survice anything and everything, by the time the Sun goes Nova people won't even be on Earth anymore, we'll have gone elsewhere.

All planets are stars.

Moons are satallites which orbit planets - It could be a star?
