Seen any decent anime films recently?

I'm currently watching Gundam Wing. Its truly excellent and is my fave so far.

I watched "Black Jack" the other day. Truly excellent movie about a doctor who is brought into a corporate Super-Human developing centre.

Hmm, suggestion for anyone looking for porco rosso. Sign up for Paypal, sign up for eBay, tell yourself if the owners really cared they'd release it in this country, and buy one from a friendly chinese person which has english/french/Japanese dub and the same for sub. For about £15 including shipping.

I have no clue what porco rosso is about, but I don't like the look of it, then again Love Hina and Ah My Goddess are two of my favourite series.

I thought the English dub was on the Japanese DVD. But they're released by Disney in Japan and they've yet to re-dub it. Ouch 40 pounds >_< I'd love to see the French dub with Jean Reno as Porco Rosso

Seen volumes 1 + 2 of Noir and it's pretty good, I want Full Metal Panic on Region 2, seen first episode on a trailer disc and it's good.

Noir is quite good actually, another two Ghiblies that I'd recommend would be Porco Rosso and Whisper of the Hearts. The first you'll only get off people who taped it off tv in 1997 the other I believe is being dubbed right now. Love those films.

Okay post 50, I better still not be a newbie. Come on 1,231 days here, I'm old and wise.

I’m currently watching Excel Saga. Very, er, hyperactive, but enjoyable and funny all the same.

As for recommendations, I’d say:

Castle of Cagliostro: Lupin III movie, one of the most enjoyable adventure capers money can buy.

Castle in the Sky: Miyazaki masterpiece.

Cowboy Bebop series & movie: best animated series ever. The film rocks too.

FLCL: Insane, but enjoyable cutting-edge animation

Grave of the Fireflies: Highly moving account of two orphans surviving through the aftermath of bomb damaged Japan in WWII.

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade: Have had this for some time but have only watched it once, but it’s a very cool thinking persons thriller.

Kiki’s Delivery Service: Another great Miyazaki movie. Coming of age adventure with a young witch and her cute little cat in a picturesque seaside town. Very charming.

Lupin III: There’s loads of TV series and films, and they’re always highly enjoyable and slightly camp (the TV series from the 70's is a hoot).

Macross Plus: Great little short series with some great action, nice story and fantastic music.

Master Keaton: Quite a new one, but seems good. Keaton (an archaeologist, professor, Falklands veteran and SAS master) has lots of adventures around the world.

Patlabor: There’s three fantastic films and a long running TV series about the misadventures of a team of lovable law enforcers with their robots.

Princess Mononoke: Yet more Miyazaki greatness, and I often see it cheap in HMV quite a lot. If you see it there, buy it.

Spirited Away: Oscar winning adventure. Coming out in cinemas in September, go see it.

Wings of Honneamise: An amazing film. An epic tale of one man’s journey to become the first man in space, overcoming the restraints of technology and an undercurrent of political intrigue. Highly recommended to any film fan.

Not really sure about what dvds to look forward too in the coming weeks and months. Might get the GTO series, Big O, L/R, more Heat Guy J.

In another thread everyone told me you don't pay VAT on CD WOW's stuff, they ship it to somewhere in europe first, and then to you, I'll go find it and pop it up for you to see...

I thought so as I checked Play.com and couldn't find it. VAT for £55 is about £9.63. I wonder why play don't sell a box set

You have to pay VAT and import tax though (they are from CD Wow not from Play as I said before). I have no idea how much that will cost me :(

I'd say yes to anyone thinking about getting the Neon Genesis Evangeloin box set. For £55 it's worth it. You can also get the two movies as most already know. Both have UK releases too.
