I thought MVM had Robotech ? They released Robotech 2 - The Sentinels a while back.

I think you're being a bit unrealistic of MVM, they're not a big company like ADV or Manga Entertainment, they can't fritter money away on advertising like ADV do. Anime will never be as popular here as it is in the USA, and that's something we'll just have to live with. All the UK people are getting more and more licences which in itself should expand the market. It's a waste of time really hyping any anime in the UK because there just isn't the interest right now. Better to keep the fan base reasonably sized, than have a couple of years of boom and bust... I actually think the release schedules are being over saturated, unless someone is rich, or buys little else, there is no way to afford them all, and only online retailers discount them. If you look at the online retailers MVM titles seem to seel well judging by how fast they go in and out of stock - I'm betting most anime fans have internet access now and purchase online or at least browse online for new titles.

Whereabouts in the Midlands are you kittworld ? All MVC stores stock the MVM range - You're Under Arrest, Oh My Goddess, Vampire Princess Muyo, Sailor Moon, Blue Gender etc in fact my local MVC now has an Anime section by itself :) Most titles are only 1-2 cheaper than buying from MVM. MVC also do the full ADV range, and others including Manga Entertainment.

It's hard to label it as cartoon porn these days what with all the kids and teen animes on TV all day. I'm pretty sure I never saw what Tilt described in animes like Hello Kitty or My Neighbour Totoro =)

I class the Moomins as an anime - I love that show. If I ever cosplay an anime character it would be Snufkin. Is anyone going to any of the anime conventions? Aya or Minami?

Tilt - You're doing what most other idiots do - Automatically labelling anime as 'cartoon porn' from like viewing one movie/episode.

Hentai is the way to go if you want to watch that sort of stuff....

Anime in my opinion is an excellent form of art.

Wow you can get Macross Plus for 14.99 5 hours 15 minutes that's pretty good ^_^ I don't think Manga Entertainments own the rights to Macross/Robotech so it's unlikely we'll see anything soon.

You seem to know alot kittworld. Any idea what the chances are of me getting my hands on a copy of Macross are? Aparently there is no UK distribution licence for it, ands it illegal to import it from the US.

MVM are okay but still small, I've talked to the guy who owns it, Martin, over the years and interviewed him a few times, I even have about 20-30 time test tapes of their animes that he gave me FOC. It's nice that they are bringing in some better animes but I just want them to really push it. I've yet to see 1 MVM product in the West Midlands in store.

One thing he told me, I think it's Urusei Yatsura Move 2 (not available in the UK still)? It's owned by a different company in Japan than the other movies, probably TOHO and they offered MVM the rights for it at $500,000 I believe so there was no way in hell they were snapping that up too.

Nottingham is great for anime - we have Virgin, MVC, and HMV, along with Forbidden Planet, Another World (who do imports also), and several independent stores, all have most anime DVD's, MVM do promote quite well and are not as small as you think - they've been in the business long since anime became semi popular and brought the first Region 2 anime DVD's out. I think you have to bear in mind many anime fans import region 1, so the first task is to win over the importers and online anime fans, then when they have a stronger base of customers advertise for new fans. I don't know how I got into anime, but it was before the internet !

I'm not so happy about MVM owning Love Hina. They're a pretty small company and that means next to no advertising and you'll be lucky to find it in stores anywhere.

In my town you are only likely to find Beyblade DVDs no other anime. In Cheltenham you'll probably only find 20 of the some 300-500 animes released in the UK. No wonder there aren't more anime fans, shops don't restock.
