I read TFOTR in 5 days yet when i talk to people on msn they say they started it at christmas and theyre still only on TTT.

I have to admit i read it because of the films but i havn't seen the films yet and i read the hobbit first because my dad (who read it in the seventies) advised me to do so.
My dad bought it along time ago and i just happend to see it while browsing my brothers bookshelf.
Also has anyone read the simirilian? My dad bought that aswell but he has only read the first 4 books of Bilbo and Frodo.

Because they're only reading it because of the films. Anyone who loves the book for what it is will get engrossed and read it a lot. These filmboys will only read a coupla pages and moan about Tolkein chatting in Sindarin or whatever. When you point out that the book is a showcase for Sindarin and Quenya, they look astounded. Sometimes they pout. Really, I've seen it.
