Hi,

I have done several speedtests since midday today and I have not got over 2.6mb/s.

My last results a minute ago from bt speed tester were:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 13789 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1152 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 11000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1586 kbps

My current router stats are:

IP 11000k
Data Rate: 13790 1153
Noise M 12 5
Ooutput Power 125 203
Att 37 14

I appreciate ALT kicks in sometimes, but this looks like a fault.

Are there any server issues currently?

Neil

As much as it may be frustrating for yourself, and I understand that you may have got used to 10Mb+, but I can not honestly say that I think a connection of 1.5Mb-2.5Mb is "appaling".

We are aware of the issue as I have mentioned previously, and can only point you back to my previous answer. We are expecting these issues to improve this month with Enta.

Test just taken:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1559 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1000-99999 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :13729 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1104 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 10000 Kbps

Columbo: 82%
ALT: Off

I think TS might want to consider a free re-grade to a VIP broadband tariff as a mark of their concern for this appalling performance.

If the response is negative, I may have to opt for other resolution processes.

My (<)2Mb throughput is more like once a day, for the majority of it, at the present time.

It appears to be clearer around about 1-2am, conveniently.

I spoke to him briefly a moment ago. He has just got back into office so is quite bust at the moment.

However, he has said he has seen individual exchanges improve significantly lately. Whether this results in better connections for the majority of customers we have not seen (as customers do not ring up to tell us when they don't have a problem oddly) :D

As for ADSL2+.... Well Enta have apparently started policing their connections differently (more harshly maybe?) and we fully expect bandwidth issues to improve this month.

Hopefully this wil linclude you Hmmm....

Sorry I don't know more, if he has time maybe ncrs will post himself.

In the meantime though a 2Mb connection for a short period once every month or so (from what I can see from previous posts etc) is not the worst situation to be in. Hold tight and hopefully we shall see improvement.

EDIT: Also slightly comical is the BT profiling "acceptable range" for ADSL accounts. "1000-99999" 0_o

It looks like two things are going on here.

Like Whit3knight I'm suffering from capacity issues during busy times.

I'm on IPSC Faraday node - 90+ % ALT is on and I'm currently limping along with these figures :¬(

Your DSL Connection Rate :4096 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps
Download speedachieved during the test was - 712 Kbps

Just painfully watched BBC Click as I like to do on a Tuesday lunchtime - but it didn't go well...

But you seem to be suffering even when the ALT isn't active on your WBC node. So it looks like you might have ADSL2+ issues?

From previous posts on these problems I appreciate Freeola don't like to get too involved in forum discussions. I think ncrs spoke about asking your wholesalers for an update on capacity plans in the past.

Perhaps this could be re-visited?

Hey Neil,

I have been suffering like you since I noticed a problem beginning to middle of august. I am on the Worcester Exchange WMWR, My sync is usually always above 5Mbps and currently at 5504Kbps. Speed increases to between 2-3Mbps during the day then tails off to as low as 405Kbps in the evenings where it becomes unusable due to high latency (over 1000ms to traceroute www.google.co.uk).

I opened a support ticket 153023 and have been told its "probably" contention at the exchange and it has been escalated. Heres some results from the BT Speed Checker, and yes I have had the same issues as you with the speed checker, first test completes most of the time but the 3rd test always fails due to timeout.

26/08/2009 - 19:00
DSL connection rate: 5120kbps (DOWN-STREAM), 896kbps (UP-STREAM)
IP profile - 3500kbps
Actual IP throughput - 1055kbps

26/08/2009 - 22:00
DSL connection rate: 5120kbps (DOWN-STREAM), 896kbps (UP-STREAM)
IP profile - 3500kbps
Actual IP throughput - 384kbps

28/08/2009 - 21:30
DSL connection rate: 5088kbps (DOWN-STREAM), 896kbps (UP-STREAM)
IP profile - 4000kbps
Actual IP throughput - 3666kbps

Test performed on 08/09/2009 @ 20:20
DSL Rate = 5504Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 896Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile is 3500Kbps (maybe this is stuck?)
Best Effort Test (Download Speed) = 896Kbps

Run at 21:20 on 09/09/2009
Download Speed - 405Kbps
DSL Connection Rate 5504Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 896Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile = 3500Kbps

I have had enough really and don't hold out much hope that it can be fixed anytime soon. Looking at moving to LLU and have my MAC form already printed :)
