I can't believe I found someone else who watched Brum. I used to watch that as a kid, I always hoped someone would try to hotwire him, and then put him in a car crusher for £20 so they could feed their addictions...

i advise you get a treadmill. nothing makes your body work like those, and nothing wears out your budget like those either. a decent one is around 500 smackers!!! if this is not for you, get a punchbag or a non-motorized treadmill. punchbags and gloves cost ariund 50 quid while non-motorized treadmills are 90 quid. form argos and index anyway...

This is another problem with people who start before they really know what they are doing.

You shouldn’t exercise a muscle group two days in a row, you need recovery time as this is when the muscle will actually grow.

I currently work out 3 times a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Mon and Tues I do my own thing and Thurs I take park in a killer circuit. There’s professional athletes, gym instructors and me, but at least it’s challenging.

Don't aim for a body like a lot of the wrestler stars of these days, as I think most (if not all) have only achieved their look with the aid of juicing.

Most advice has already been given. Just keep in good shape, do some kind of CV work, watch what you eat. If you take up some kind of martial arts that will usually involve some kind of upper body endurance training, like press-ups. But I also agree that you shouldn’t hit the free weights until you are 16+.

This is a pretty good web site, gives advice for just about everything from exercises to diet. They have their own forums as well, full of friendly people.

I have been using tips from this mag for around 2 years now, (I used to be over weight, but now I'm in pretty good shape).

Opps. Been lifting weights since I can remember. My brother got weights and a bench years ago and I've been lifting them too.

I'm inconsistant. I'll uses them every night for a while, then fall off the bandwagon and not touch them for months. I also did but also plan to got back to Tae Kwon Do. I did it for around half a year, but laziness got the better of me and I stopped. I regret it though, it was so good for my fitness and loads of other things too. I'll go back someday, it was a really good influence on my life.

PS- if you care- i'm about 5"9 and roughly ten stone. I eat loads of $hitty food though. :P

I know what you mean. I was doing jumps on my bike the other day and my arm hit a tree, then I went over one of the jumps we had made, still in shock because I hit my elbow and when I looked down at my wheel it was turned 90* to the left. I just managed to turn it with my lefet hand and land the jump one handed, it looked good but I got that weird feeling. You know the one where you just came out of something you thought you could really injure self doing, without getting hurt. I just sat on my bike and let it roll down the path. Wow, what a rush. I hurt my elbow a bit though, luckily it's internal and there is only a small graze. I'm not sure if that's so lucky actually.
