I say bring back the old-style wrestlers - the belly-clashers, the man-mountains of rippling fat - like what's-his-name.... Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.
WWF is just an excuse for gay acrobats to live out their oiled-up throwing fantasies.

Depends. Some gyms are fitness places, full of old men and women, they can charge up to a tenner. They're pants. You want a proper gym. My school had one, which was free, but they knocked it down. For the last couple of years I've been going to one out of town, only costs £1.50 to get in. Go for something like that.

As for Mantis, get yourself an MP3 player which is small (like the Beatman) because you can go jogging with it. Means it's not so boring. Get some weights, work some muscles one day, others the next then back to the first ones again the day after, and so on. Working the same muscles every day without time to rest won't do you much good.

Best thing to do is to join a gym, upon joining a half decent gym will design a routine for you.

If you want some advice online you may need to tell people what you aim to gain.

As for working out in the summer, seems a little odd to me. I work out all year round, because I enjoy it. But the sudden influx of people during the summer that aim to gain a model body in the month before they go on holiday is always laughable. If you want to be in shape for summer, start working out in winter. But, it is a lot easier to maintain a good physique, rather then get one, lose it, and try to get it again. So just a little exercise all year round will make it much easier.

Mantis, I'm exactly like that. Last Summer I went mad and worked out whenever I had an ounce of time, even when watching the telly.

Then, come Septemeber (and therefore back to college), I got lazy again, although I now have two months to work out all over again.

Didn't know that- thanks mate.

Summer is ususally my "get in shape" season of the year doing sit ups/press ups etc every day. Anyone else like this?

I'm 16 so someone who knows anything could you give me some advice about regular training. I'm thinking about going for runs again but it's hard to get motivated to get out of your bed in the morning. I have to get out of the habit of getting up at lunch time. :)

Boxing helped me to get big muscles and would reccomend it to anyone. It's also very enjoyable too.

I agree with IB et al on this one - you really shouldn't start any serious weight training until you're at least 16, prior to that just do plenty of sport and eat the right foods.

Mind you, it is possible to take the dietry routine too seriously. I usually go the to gym three times a week, and I'm very careful about avoiding junk food and so on. Back in March though, a combination of an extremely low fat-intake diet and fairly hefty alcohol consumption (which depletes fatty acids from your body) left me with a slight fatty acid deficiency, which resulted in the skin on my hands going very dry and flakey.

Moral of that story - before imposing any sort of diet on yourself, do a lot of research into nutrition.

Practice oiling up and walking around your house in pants. Oh and talking in the 3rd person would be a good thing too.
