I just got back from one. It was a pathetic reason for a detention in the first place. Anyone want to take a guess at what it was for?

my secondary school had a GREAT detention system...
you get a regular detention right? it's half an hour after school..
you don't go.
they give you a 'School' detention, it's 45 minutes.
you don't go.
they give you a 'headmasters' detention. it's an hour.
you don't go.
you get a note saying the headmaster wants to see you, you spend 2 minutes in his office where he tells you he's "disappointed in you" and that's it. finished.

Yep, all after school. On a normal day I'd get home at 4 (before they changed the school's finishing time) and my parents would get home about 5. So even with an hour's detention, I wouldn't get in much later than they did. They'd either not ask where I'd been, or if they did, I'd say I stayed behind to do something, or went to a friend's. I'm the kid who, for over two years, managed to make his parents believe he was going into school every single day, when in fact I had the highest level of absense in the entire year.

My primary school had about 30 kids to each class and we got changed for PE in the classroom, by our seats...
At my primary school we had to do pe in "pants and vest" if we didn't have our pe kit with us.
At the time we didn't seem to be aware of what the hell was happening
