I remember when my mother took me to see Spirited Away at the cinema when I was a kid. Magical stuff, I loved it
Strangely that's not one of the 14 films being shown. Surprisingly neither is Grave of the Fireflies. The BBC tend to show the former so I'll have to check the guide.
Boy is it cold out there today. I suppose at least we don't have the snow down here and probably won't for a long time to come, but it's still a bit nippy.
Still trying to work out when to take my few remaining days holiday. Already have the three days after Christmas booked off (after the 2 bank holiday days) so it's either going to be next week or the week after (when the kids have broken up).
Wales still lacks a really good circuit - Pembrey and Angelesey aren't quite the same, right? Only major motorsport event I can think of in Wales is Rally GB, if a new track hosted WTCC, BTCC, various bike races etc etc I can imagine it getting a fair amount of custom. In terms of geography and motorsport, though, how does Rockingham manage to even exist being so near Silverstone? Moreover; Brands Hatch, Rockingham, Silverstone and Donington Park - surely that's 4 of international standard? :S
There are really 3 racing circuits that can host international level events in the UK and they are all in England (not that it matters). MotoGP at Ty Croes in Anglesey would be interesting, anyone missing their braking point on one of those machines would end up in the sea! As for Rockingham, I went there to see the Indycar event when they hosted that a few years ago and its nothing like Silverstone, Donington Park or Brands Hatch, the infield section is way too small to race anything like 200mph MotoGP bikes, it would be like trying to fly a Boeing 747 around my patio! The other 3 mentioned are fantastic circuits and perfect for hosting large international events. There really is no need to spend £200 million of taxpayers money on building another, that money would be much better spent elsewhere IMO.

One piece of criticism has been that a lot of the work on the site has gone to immigrants
How dare they have jobs
Quite. And anyway, immigration creates jobs in turn.

I'm also slightly surprised by the apparent support for the proposed (Welsh Government backed) £200 million motor racing circuit at Ebbw Vale. One argument is that if it gets built then we could host a second round of the MotoGP world championship in the UK. But we already have 3 International racing circuits in this country, if we need to host another race in the UK then why not give the event to one of the other existing circuits?

Also, pb - rhubarb pie also makes an ideal lunch. Well, if it's one of the fairly large ones Coop end up resorting to selling at rock bottom prices before closing time.
Got nothing really to say but I've just noticed that Hmmm was about to overtake me in the Top Posters list.
Not a very quick update of 'stats' though pete ... never has been :¬(
