Hi pb.
It's only BT as in wholesale - the same as you are with your current ISP.
You can have fibre without using Infinity which is just BT's offering.
[s]Hmmm...[/s]Are there that main other ISPs who are using it, though?

Forgive me for asking but ... if you finished work late and that's had a knock on effect for your childrens' bedtime, why couldn't your wife put them to bed at their usual time? Their bedtime shouldn't suffer because of your 'lateness' unless of course, you have some sort of 'dad's routine'.
We have dinner together and it was one of those dinners which makes it harder to split them up. Basically ended up having dinner at 7pm. Still, it's continental time I guess. Pity we're not in Spain to use that excuse though!

Made me smile as well!...just couldn't resist though

Fair comment!
I was only responding - and I'm not sure @pb visits the tech forum...
[s]Hmmm...[/s] Double standards, I reckon;¬)
You don't have to have your nearest cabinet FTTC enabled but the one you are connected to.
So nothing to do with distance from exchange as you first mentioned :¬)
As a rough guide - even around a mile away from your cabinet you could get 15Mbps.
[s]Hmmm...[/s]My olde worlde exchange isn't even on a BTw ADSL2+ upgrade map never mind Fibre...! :¬P
NB. You mention 'cable' FWIW that's from another company and is a mix of coax and fibre...

The point is that it looks as if BT has no plans to roll their cable out any further from the exchange than they really need to.
You lost me there?!
[s]Hmmm...[/s]I may be wrong (it has been known) but for FTTC you need the cabinet nearest you to have cable. BT's rollout may have a huge lists of towns and cities, but from what people are saying, it isn't covering the whole of those areas and many cabinets are not getting the upgrade.
