Well that was a short, sharp blizzard. Suns trying to come out now!

I don't want to hear a single complaint about snow and cold. You can all just move to the south west seaside resort where we've had absolutely no snow since the beginning of 2012, over a year now, and much milder temperatures,

A blizzard's just started up here - I'm not complaining though!

On the FAQ sheet it quotes,
'The law states that a notice of intended prosecution must be posted to reach the REGISTERED KEEPER of the vehicle, AS RECORDED ON THE DVLA DATABASE ...

I still feel that the address isn't that significant, only a means of issuing you, the registered keeper, with the intention of prosecution. Depending on how you read the above, you are the registered keeper as recorded on the DVLA database.

If you don't respond, then the case goes to a magistrates court where you are found guilty in your absence, a fine is levied plus court costs and points awarded to your licence ... this may then be served by a bailiff ... this is a scenario suggested by a friend of mine who is a bailiff.[/i]

Morning all.

No snow or ice as expected, just a dull and dreary day here but much warmer than yesterday

On the FAQ sheet it quotes,
'The law states that a notice of intended prosecution must be posted to reach the REGISTERED KEEPER of the vehicle, AS RECORDED ON THE DVLA DATABASE (they sent it to 29 and my address and what is registered with DVLA is 29A), within 14 days of the alleged offence. First class post is a legally accepted method for serving the notice with the expectation of the next day delivery. If you receive the notice beyond this time period, it is likely that you are not the registered keeper, but have been nominated as the driver or keeper of the vehicle'

Now, someone has told me that because my correct address is registered with DVLA as it shows on my driving licence and they've sent it to another address that can possibly have a chance of getting away with it, as it's their error and I didn't get it from my neighbour within the 14 days as they've been on holiday.

Morning all and welcome to the forums, howzit83 ...

In simplistic terms I would have thought that you, the named driver, incurred the speeding fine and not the house address! It was 'lucky' that it arrived next-door and not to a similar address in another town![/i]

Thanks for the advice DL, will think of that. And as much as moving back to the south west, I would love to but currently stuck in Wales until summer (I say summer, but "cold/wet period between may and September" may be more apt) 2014.

At least next year I won't have to make £100 last 2 months...
