Not quite, yes there are other culprits but Amazon do appear to be champions of screwing the UK economy. Dodging corporation tax by routing sales via Luxembourg, shipping items under £18 from the Channel Islands to avoid charging VAT (usually via their subsidiary IndigoStarfish) and who could forget that earlier this year when it was reported that they received more in government grants then they actually paid in corporation tax. Of course the other side of the argument is who is the real villain here?, Amazon for blatantly exploiting every loophole in the book or the inept government for allowing such loopholes to exist?
I just feel sorry for any businesses which have 'played by the rules' only to be killed off by their competitors exploiting these unfair practices.

Lovely day here, waiting for a bloke to come and put a new shower in as the current one packed up last Friday, he's supposed to be here between 9-30 and 10 so I'll probably see him about lunchtime!
If you buy any CD from them with the Autorip sign they'll throw in the MP3 album for free to save you ripping it. This is pretty useful considering the Amazon MP3 service is also cloud based, so you can grab your music over the air on Android and iOS using their app.
The good news is that it seems to work retrospectively, with past album purchases that are eligible giving you MP3s now. I've just got an email with the news that I now have 4 more albums worth of MP3s on my list.
Whatever negative press Amazon gets, they still come up with some great ideas and services.
I never even got to see Iron Man 3 at the cinema, either. I'll probably watch that on Blu-ray as well, considering that I have the others. Of course, then it's just getting time to watch it at home instead...
Anyway. Monday morning again and the threat of more work looms large. Sat at my desk trying to get as much coffee down my throat as possible to kick start the day.
