As this is the first major outage we've had for some considerable time, perhaps we aren't doing too badly...

I use EMail Pro for important e-mails, 'free email' is for anything that isn't important.
It's not really good enough as people will be waiting to recieve important e-mails. I think Freeola should give a free month. There are other companies with E-mail servers out there you know
We are of course attempting to resolve this as quickly as possible, and we are also keeping the status page updated with any further information. To recap however, an engineer is currently onsite.
You are right, there are other mail services out there, all of which experience issues at one time or another. Unfortunately, these outages are never convenient, no matter when they occur, which is why we try to keep such events to a minimum.

How long does an email server need to run "disk checks"?
Just got home after having to wait around outside the shops with my dog due to the girls wanting to look at the sales and use their vouchers, plus a quick shop in Tesco to get something to eat and pick up a few post-Christmas bargains from the seasonal aisle!

I think we'll miss the snow completely yet again. Hasn't snowed and settled here since 2011.
