And we had the pleasure of the traffic jams on the way back too.
... and what flavour did you enjoy the most? ;¬)
Oh so very tired today. Got woken up at 3am by our youngest and couldn't get back to sleep.
Please don't blame the civil service staff. It's not their fault. It's the fault of a government who seeks to privatise the civil service by making severe cuts to departments that make them unfit for purpose, thus getting the public to side with the idea of selling them on to private firms who initially look fantastic until the problems occur (think ATOS and the DWP scandals of recent years).
The DVLA staff are getting a pay cut whilst the MPs are getting a 10% pay rise. They're already having a hard time, and each step the government takes seems to be a kick in the teeth for them. And believe it or not, they actually want to do their jobs. They rely on their jobs.
Sorry, I've gone a little political, but I have seen first hand what has happened to various civil service departments over the years and it's very grim.
Sounds very frustrating DL. I regulaly bore my wife with moans about how straightforward things often prove to be complicated these days.
Me too dav!
It is frustrating for him. He could have decided to learn to drive 11 years ago and had no problem, he'd have had his 'paper bit', but he's left it until now! He's an extremely competent welder and has the potential to build a great business ... but no licence, no future.
As for the DVLA's approach to web management ... it's the pants.
Still no joy accessing licence details ... a technical problem!
I know I'm dealing with a 'Government department' who basically work a rigid 9-5 but IT should be 24/7 as it is with most other companies I deal with. Shocking state of affairs TBH.

My bad they operate on Saturdays!
Quote from Twiiter, I believe:
"Could you please tell us the name of the prat who thought having to get a code was a good idea"
Couldn't agree more ;¬)
One of my sons has decided to take driving lessons. His driving school asked him on Friday to provide his driving details or a secure code.
Armed with his details I have been unsuccessful in producing the details required from the DVLA 'View driving licence details' site.
Since Friday the site has returned 'Technical problem' or a 405 nginx error code! He needs this info for his first lesson on Tuesday! Reliable service ... I think not.
Very windy today, the weather that is, not me. Blew the washing thing over again, really must get tat set in concrete instead.
Cex in Perth has finally opened so I celebrated the occasion by doing a spot of trading in. A 15 minute walk into town is much more convenient than the 20 mile drive to Dundee I used to have to do.
