Morning.
Anyone got the Windows 10 install notification yet? I haven't, but I'd still hold off on my main PC to see what others have gone through installing it, first.
Not had ours yet. On investigation ... update history ... Windows 10 upgrade failed on 28th, 29th and today! Have just run Windows Update troublshooter and it's found and fixed 3 errors. Find this odd as all other updates have installed successfully during these dates.
It shouldn't even have tried to install on 28th, as the upgrade was only available from yesterday, so that does suggest something fairly fundamentally wrong with your set up.
Spoke to my dad this morning, and his upgrade is downloading and installing now. I'll do my desktop tonight, and my tablet at the weekend.
You might need to RESET WINDOWS UPDATE to resolve this...

Windows 10 is now installed on my laptop, as an upgrade from 7. I thought I'd do this first, as it was likely to be the most problematic.
No issues, the install worked perfectly, I had to do nothing more than start it and drink lots of tea. Took over 5 hours to complete, but worth the wait?
I think so.
Edge seems pretty good too, certainly a lot faster than IE and a lot cleaner, better laid out.
hectic and frustrating week at work so far. The project I am working on is due for release tomorrow but it's a bit of a disaster at the moment. Each day I dread opening my email system but today there is nothing so I guess I should enjoy the calm before the storm when they US office I'm working for come online.
In many ways it is easier than ever to do some interviews and pull together some nice pieces. If there's ever anything I can help with my email is .

Yes, pretty much on everything I registered...
Still haven't done the install, but the download is done and ready.

Oh what's the website? Do I know this already? It feels as if it is something I already knew.
I would like to do some video, if only to broaden out. But I prefer writing. I actually like print as well, which I would obviously say as I edit a magazine. But unfortunately I'm the minority. I've always wanted to develop a really specialist magazine that I might be able to find via crowd funding (but not patreon), but I've never had the time to get it off the ground.
It's not all bad of course. In fact, mostly it is good. I get to write a lot and spend my time in the greatest industry on earth.
4dgamers.com
It's just a hobbyist site with delusions of being up there with the likes of Eurogamer and VG, but I'm quite pleased with it and I've got a fair few contacts in the business now.

It's a journalist career, so they're over before you know it. Not much call for writers these days. Video is all the rage
Don't get me started on that. While video serves its purpose, it just seems to be a general dumbing down of the medium to replace the written word completely.
That said, I think part of the reason that Games Journalism is moving to video is that the internet has now given everyone the chance to be a 'blogger' and setting up a site is fairly easy, so you could argue that it floods the market with would-be Games Journalists and removes the emphasis on general content, meaning that paid sites have to rely on exclusive content and less on the day-to-day stuff, harder to do in written form.
That said, I'm as guilty as the next man for setting up a game review site.
