This also means I can do the other 2 Windows laptops in the house without downloading. Hopefully they'll be just as straightforward.
Was reading a message board last night and the success rate of issue free Windows 10 updates was around 50/50. Some were reporting no problems, others were having a nightmare. Also the new Edge browser apparently does not support MS aging Silverlight plug in which means some streaming sites (such as BT Sport, Eurosport Player etc.) cannot be viewed using it ATM. Reckon I'll hang fire TBH, at least until the MotoGP season has finished!
True, Silverlight is not "supported", however you do have the absolutely outstandingly foresighted option of loading edge "in Internet Explorer" (essentially "shelling" it with all associated plug ins). Kind of like compatibility mode, to allow for sites that use outdated systems or plugins.
Not had any issues yet....
As of now it's updated with 47 updates for Word 10 ... no problem, did it itself etc etc.
The problem exists with MS and their Grand Scheme.

So... Manual reset then...

I can confirm that the actual update is approx. 2.7GB, however the install is smart enough to acquire all necessary drivers and app updates before it begins the upgrade. This could potentially add several Gb of downloaded data...
Yes, I had read reports of 3-6GB depending on the device.
So someone with a couple of Windows PCs to upgrade will have downloaded quite a lot of data.

@DL I see you queried in another thread about excessive internet usage etc.
It looks like the W10 download is a around 5GBdepending where you read (per device) so perhaps this is connected?
[s]Hmmm...[/s]EDIT: Since I read this thread I see it's started mentioning the download.
I have been reading this on forbes.com:
That said the size of the download has also prompted some users on capped broadband plans to complain that they have no control over when the new operating system downloads. Something which is also a complaint with its forced automatic updates once up and running.
