Potential favourite songs for HM:
"I can see clearly now (I've had an eye test)" Johnny Nash
"Iris (looks healthy)" Goo Goo Dolls
"Eye of the Tiger (examined by the Veterinary Ophthalmologist)" Survivor
As for eye-tests. I get mine done every 2 years as recommended by my optician and by most good employers (who, if you work on DSE they should insist).
My vision, so I've been told, is better than 20-20 (I didn't know that was a thing until then) however from what I understand, eye tests not only detect issues with the eyes, but can pick up other issues too. So it's worth doing even if you can see clearly.
You may see fine, but many eye diseases don't affect vision until their endstage...and often it's too late to do anything by then. I'd recommend an independent over a multiple (i.e. specsavers, optical express etc. etc.) to remove pressure of buying glasses. Worth it for the eye health ;) But still, you'll still get the eye health check!
(passionate optician in me speaking!)
Congrats Edgy - great post. Inspired more reviews so has to be a winner ;)
On a different note... Never have I been so passionate about people getting their eyes examined more regularly. This afternoon I saw 3 people that have left it 5-10 years since their last eye exam. One had endstage glaucoma that had developed in that time (he is now blind in the top half of his left eye) another had an aggressive type of glaucoma that could cause pain and lead to blindness and last but not least, one that had a very suspicious freckle at the back of their eye that could possibly be the start of a melanoma. That and a patient Monday, a diabetic that has poor control, never had an eye exam and presented with end-stage diabetic eye disease that is likely to make them totally blind.
It's been a tough week so far and one that is heartbreaking to see as all three may have been picked up earlier and sight may have been saved. If that isn't enough to make you book an eye exam...I don't know what is!
Regular exams for all my family, so we're ok here,
