Not heard back from the garage yet but at least I have a courtesy car for now.

Seems to be the Cam belt. A belt that was fitted in October last year and I've only done 1000 miles since then. Possibly taken other things with it, considering that it's a diesel engine. If it is, the garage will have to take full responsibility for this.[/i]
Bad luck pb, was it just a belt change that was done or were the tensioners and water pump done at the same time? If not then I bet the garage will try and wriggle out of it citing a seized water pump or tensioner. What car/engine is it? If it broke when attempting to start (the car was not moving at the time) then you might have got lucky. Some engines, despite being interference engines, have purposefully weak rockers that break instead of the valves being bent, which is a considerably cheaper repair![/i]
Altea TDI. And good point, I need to check what was done.

Looks like something has gone on the car. Won't turn over and oil pressure light has come on now. Oh dear.
I'm sure I've seen that red splat around.
And a mighty fine red splat at that :¬)
GAD is still running (of a sort), you'll be pleased to hear.
