go to university when you are only 16? I have been doing the maths and it turns out I'll be 16 years old when I get my Highers back next year and if I get all the highers I need there are a few courses at university I really want to do. However when I send away my application forms I'll be 15 still and I'll only just have turned 16 when I get them back (Birthday in November). I don't see the need in staying on at Highschool if I have all the highers I need but I don't know if they'd even accpet me since I'm so young. Is anyone in the same position or have been in that position?

Lol, I see BEARDS. It's stupid though as our education system is almost eactly the same except we call our qualifications different names and spend different amount of time at primary school and high school.

The huge amount of ungrounded bias inherent in the English education system?

Because a lot of Unis use the tariff as it gives a wider range of results that you can get.

Scottish highers don't seem to rate has high as A Levels though so you'd have to email them to find out about the courses.

The tariff system doesn't count for much though. It gives you a basic idea on how much your qualifications are worth but if the entrance requirements are say 4 A's one of which must be English and you have 4 A's one of which is English then they will accept you. I don't even see the need in that tariff thing.

I don't want to type because it hurts but:

You don't have to do your GCSEs, if you want to leave after the last day at school you can do so!

You can do A Levels at 11 if you want, just learn the stuff and apply to the board to be entered into the exam, as long as you are in school until you are 16 then you are fine.

UCAS points are how the Universitys give you the offers of what grades you need to get to get in.

Eg

300 points from 3 A Levels is BBB or ABC

A Level

A = 120 points
B = 100
C = 80

etc

AS

A = 60 (everything is half...)

1) How have you done your higher exams at your age? You been moved up a year because of your geniusness?

2) How many of these point things do you need to get into Uni?

In that case, look at the courses that the Uni offers and find out the entry grades.

http://www.ucas.ac.uk/higher/tariff/calc/calculator.html

That will help you to work out the UCAS points thingy.

Apply next year but defer for the year because although you may be able to cope with the work, you'll suffer on the social side with everyone being 2 odd years older than you...

Saying that, I'd just carry on like normal until everyone else applies, you'll be the same age and it will make it much more fun...

Highers are the Scottish equivalent of A-Levels and we also have Advanced Highers which are the English A-Level+ or whatever you get.
