Apparently Madonna wants to adopt an African baby and her husband isn't too keen on the idea. Angelina Jolie seems to enjoy collecting babies from all over the world and Brad Pitt would rather make his own. I think I recall Michael Jackson wanting to adopt a child from every continent at one stage, I hope that never happens :/
What is with celebrities and adopting children from poor countries? Sure it's great that they're giving them a better life but if you really want to help, how about donating a few million to help a lot more orphans. I dunno, like Guy Ritchie he's worried "his wife may just want the child as a celebrity status symbol". Would celebrities really go that far?

Yep spot on the Bullet my thoughts exactly. I'm probably being cynical but I think when they're not in the spotlight for a period of time they do shallow things to get them back up there in the media eye and adopting a child is one of them.
I wouldn't be surprised however if it was their agent who suggested or even forced them into doing it.
Like has already been said they would be much better off donating money to charity to help not just one kid who will probably grow up into a spoilt brat anyway but a whole host of kids around the world.
I have much admiration for Bill Gates, Richard Branson etc who would rather see their money doing some good in the world rather than sitting in a bank account doing nothing at all.

Take Bill Gates - he donates truckloads of moolah to charities because he has the money and wants to help make a difference - not because it'll get him on the cover of Time Magazine.
I think they would. Celebrities can be really shallow - will do anything to generate media interest. Not saying they're all like that, but they're definitely in abundance.
I agree when you say they should donate to help a bunch of oprhans instead - that, to me, would be the better thing to do.
