Digital TV, mostly subscribed to by the most apathetic voting group, the 18-30s, will now be used to send electoral votes.

This is genius. I didn't vote in the last election because I couldn't be bothered to walk over to the designated voting thingy.

Now it looks like I'll be able to do it from the comfort of my own home.

Yeehaaw!!!

Scoff all you like, I didn't vote last time because I couldn't be bothered, and I knew who would win anyway.

"Did you vote in the last election?"
"No"
"Why not?"
"Because I'd been late getting home and couldn't be arsed walking to the voting station"
"You are hereby stricken from ever voting again. Furthermore, you are banished from ever discussing any policy whatsoever, nor can you ever moan about your local council for anything whatsoever nor complain about rates"
"But...but..."
"Nope, you forfeit your right to act like an adult and have those priviliges. Stay inside and watch tv you morons"

Surely if a party has enough money, they'll buy people these boxes and pay for them as long as they get a vote..

Actually, yes. But while encouraging apathy, it'll also increase the number of people who vote, which may or may not be a good thing.

Sounds more like digital voting to encourage apathy
