This is genius. I didn't vote in the last election because I couldn't be bothered to walk over to the designated voting thingy.
Now it looks like I'll be able to do it from the comfort of my own home.
Yeehaaw!!!
Tories are in power, they are crap, their MPs are all shagging around, some getting themselves killed doing so, nothing they seem to do has any effect, and John Majoy is quite possibly the most ineffectual tool ever concieved, not to mention the fact that by the time I was old enough to vote, I had a better CV than he did.
So, vote for the next best alternative, the people promising to concentrate on "education, education, education", and start to pump more money into student loans etc.
So, we vote Labour in. Prett much the first thing they do is abolish student grants and screw the finances of the future generation who fid themselves riddled with near inconsolable debts before they've even joined the workplace.
Labour them proceed to just go about business as usual, doing nothing clever, getting caught up in nonsensical sensationalist stories and "controversy" and look pretty much like the Tories used to.
My prediction if the Lib Dems ever got into power? More of the same, only it might take a few months for it to start happening.
The only party that will run the country any differently is the BNP, and I'm not quite prepared to vote for them, thanks all the same.
Politics in this country is a shambolic load of crap, not helped by the fact that the vast majority of the public don't know how complicated the job is, and certainly not aided in any respect by the fact that pretty much every party will lie through its teeth to get into power.
They're all the same. And I can vote any which way but loose, and it'll never change the nature of British politics. Short of raising a few hundred million pounds and running for office myself, nothing can be done.
I'm not sure what how we would be governed if it did happen, but i think you get the general gist - people would have no excuse NOT to vote if they could have a vote of no confidence.
Because an awful lot of people are too apathetic to vote, and that negates those of us that do make the effort.
Making a decision on how you live your life is one thing, but knowing that your actions have direct effect on the lives of others, surely, would persuade you to take an interest??

Which is precisely why I dont complain about the government. I have as little to do with politics as I can. I pay the taxes etc required of me, and get on with life.
> It's your choice but I just cannot understand why you wouldn't vote?

That 'crap' is simply my point of view.

I just feel that whoever gets into power seems to be the party who has made the most attractive promises, regardless of whether they intend to keep to them or not. When it comes down to it, some parties benefit some people, others benefit others. Those who feel strongly about a particular party can vote, those who who don't do not have too.

You have your opinion, I have mine. I won't tell you you are wrong. You, as have I, have made a decision you are comfortable with.
If all the people I've spoken to that are capable of intelligent, independant thought voted, then we may affect change and stop the mindless day-to-day crap that bogs us down.
But no, we'd all rather talk about video games and movies.
More people voted for Stars in Their Eyes grand-final that turned out to choose who they decided should best represent them.
You put more thought into what game you'll buy than you do who decides the policies that affect your life.
And that is inexcusable.
It's not cool, it's not fashionable, it's not "wow, I'm like, so alternative" to not bother to vote.
It's lazy, weak and marks non-voters as sheeple. You make no choice, play no part but are all to eager to moan and groan about stuff.
Wow, look at me. I didn't vote because, like, it's all crap anyway.
*slow clap*
It's your choice but I just cannot understand why you wouldn't vote? You have no say otherwise, and dont give me that crap about them all being as bad as one another.
Or at least give me 5 reasons why The Lib Dems are as bad as Labour, or why Labour is as bad as the Tories.
*shakes head*
Stupidity? Ignorance? Maybe.
I've just decided that each party is as bad as the next.
The only reason I may consider voting is to stop people like the BNP getting in.
I did, however, vote in the Labour landslide of '97...
People like you are exactly why this country is in the state it's in, because you sit at home thinking "Well there's no point anyway" and nothing ever gets changed.
Stupidity I can understand, but "couldn't be bothered" staggers belief.
