Digital TV, mostly subscribed to by the most apathetic voting group, the 18-30s, will now be used to send electoral votes.

This is genius. I didn't vote in the last election because I couldn't be bothered to walk over to the designated voting thingy.

Now it looks like I'll be able to do it from the comfort of my own home.

Yeehaaw!!!

I voted in the last election, because the next wouldn't have been for 5 years, and my political views may well have changed in that time (ie. I actually care about them). It's like the man says, if you don't vote, then you have absolutely no right to complain about the government or the way the country's being run.

It's that attitude of human nature that's so despressing; people are all too happy to start whinging about how everything's crap and everything's rubbish, but when it's up to them to make a decision, they're all 'it won't make a difference anyway.' Grrrr.

I was going to have a rant on people complaining about Congestion Charging too, but I won't. Can't be bothered. Oh, the irony.

My god man think !! Phone voting means you'd have to *gasp* leave the sofa !!!! And press more than one button !!! And wait !!!!

Yes, I'm being sarcastic. If they do it, and more people vote, it's a good thing.

Votings pointless though, we elect someone, then whinge whenever the government does anything.

Maybe we should offer Saddam asylum and put him in charge for a year, that'd learn us.....

I'd have thought they'd have done phone voting first.

"Please hold the line, your vote is important to us. You have been placed in the queue in teh order your call was received. You are currently number *badly fitting voice* 55601"

"If you wish to vote for the conservative party, press 1. If you wish to vote for the labour party, press 2. If you wish to vote for George Bush, press 3. If you wish to vote for the Liberal Democrats, press 4"

*presses 4*

You're joking right?

If not you suck

This is what bugs me... I need to wait another year until I can vote yet there are people out there that cant spare a few minutes every once in a while to vote for something that could change their lifes.

Although in saying that... stuff the 'vote for everyone', screw democracy. For every well imformed person that cares about politics there may be a mong that cancels that vote.

My mum and dad campaigned for the Labour Party in the 80s and many times people said they didn't know the difference but will probably vote Tory... because they were in charge so were obviously thr best.

Idiots, everyone. I'm going to study Politics then turn the country into a dictatorship... don't worry I'll be nice.

I'm pleased I didn't vote Labour in the last election, because I now feel I have a right to swear about Tony Blair as much as I like.

TV voting, surely a TV show would be invloved, PM Idol style. Very sad.

People didn't just die for our right to vote, they fought for freedom.

That includes freedom to choose. If I choose to deem none of the political parties worthy of me getting up and putting pen to paper in their name, then that is my right.

You can rave all you wish, but it doesn't change the fact that modern politics is a joke, and the idea of someone like you taking it seriously, despite wanting desperately for the end of the world to visit sooner rather than later, is quite frankly hilarious.

Politicians don't want to make Britain a better country, they want the same thing everyone else does. POWER.

It's because of this motivation that ver very few men or parties for that matter will ever make good Prime Ministers.

And I don't see the point in voting when it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever who's in power.

There is a difference between 'not bothering' and 'making an informed decision not to'.

Actually scrub that, it was meant for people here.

It's one thing to take a stand for your beliefs, as Belldandy did, it's quite another to just shrug and let whatever happens happen.
That's the reason we're on the brink of war, that's the reason our hospitals and educational system is down the toilet, that's the reason kids have no respect anymore, that's the reason that those of us that do care and genuinely do what they can to affect change directly around them are hamstrung by the whatevers.

And to wheel out the old adage, people died for your right to vote. Women chained themselves to railing and were beaten to secure voting rights, blacks in America ignited the Civil rights movement only 30 years ago for their right to vote.

I may be lecturing, but shame on you for simply sitting back and playing video games and drinking with your mates when it takes 5 mins to vote.
