My site has only just gone online, which is why there is nothing on it yet, before you ask

as a demo, my site, http://taka-q.port5.com, is free, and even the gifs that are about 1/5 odd bytes take along time to load. Then goo to, say www.simcity.com which has loads of complicated gifs, and it loads really quickly in comparason

If you get the right software, such as dap, your downloads will go at 60 KB per sec. Also, a select few sites go at good speeds, mainly one like the offical nintendo one, EA,s ones, and amazons. (big company websites basicly)

The whole internet was basically design for dial up, so the servers are all not used to givin out stuff at faster rates, which is why you get the slower than you would expect loading times
