Yeah! I received the SN41G2 on Thursday, but couldn't the heatsink and thus the CPU out of the socket from my old PC, so I had to wait until Monday to get a new one... then, after overspilling some thermal compound over the core of my new CPU, the HD that I used stopped working (just before loading XP, a blue screen indicating that it stopped to prevent damage appeared, with a STOP error code displayed beneath)... so I spent all morning reinstalling XP and my drivers...

I've now setup all my email accounts again, and can easily copy my documents from the error drive to the one I'm using (somehow it works but doesn't boot) - but all my serial numbers for all the programs that I was using (in Outlook format) are now gone!! Well, not really, they're still on the unbootable drive... but I can't copy the data files across to the new Outlook folder without causing some damage!! How can I copy the emails that I once had? (That's my question)

Looking back at the past few days... not too much hassle then, eh? And I've only got two days left to finish my Business Studies Coursework!!!

My PC becomes unstable and reboots at 53c heh, which was happening when my house started getting warm. Hence my wtf-mission to discover the problem.

52 degrees aint that bad......
But people tend to not bother cleaning their pc's anyway..... as opening it up could lead to more problems.

Tis true. Yesterday I cleaned all the dust from my heatsink after getting worrying temperatures for a while, and my temperatures stoned from about 52c to 43c.

I have myself a mini-vac.

Dust tends to stick to it and get built up making cooling worse, all you need to do is use a bit of bog roll to clean it off or even some anti-static spray, but as long as temps are o.k. under load i would worry to much.

OK, thanks for those tips, AMD_MAN. Unfortunately I've spilt the compund over the core and beyond onto the surface, although there haven't been any problems yet - will there something wrong in the long term, do you think?

Little tip about thermal compound, only a small amount is to be used as all it does is fill in the tiny inperfrecions between the cpu core and the heatsink bottom, so if to much is put on then all that does is make another layer for the heat to transfer through, lot's of people finely sand the bottom of there heatsink down with wet and dry sandpaper to make these inperfections less thus better contact between both heatsink and core.

Windows xp does not like hardware being changed and will blue screen on you, there is now way of fixing this only a reinstall, it is microsofts way of making life harder, it may allow a cpu or ram change and peripherals but not a motherboard.

To copy your old e-mails you need to open outlook express and got to FILE>IMPORT>MESSAGES choose Microsoft outlook express 6 click next then highlight MAIN IDENTITY and press o.k. now you have to point it to the place were your e-mails would be so for isntance..

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\USER NAME\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION DATA\ IDENTITIES\SOME LONG NAME WITH JUST NUMBERS AND LETTERS\MICROSOFT\OUTLOOK EXPRESS highlight this then click o.k. and that should be were they are, unfrotunalty it will be slightly differant than mine because it depends on how many people you had as users.
