Might get one for christmas. My dad plays bass and normal guitar but doubt he would have much time to show the ropes.
So how did you learn?
How long did it take for you to get semi - decent?
I am not really musically gifted, I can be a quick learner for most things but I have a feeling this could be quite different.
So errm let me know.
Thanks.
Also anyone have any good site, book or dvd's/videos that they found really helpful.
Can't play it
wah wah
Gibson Flying V
Some tanglewood strat thing (first guitar)
Yamaha electro acoustic
Ibanez 12 string acoustic (fantastic guitar)
Squire Bass
The gibson guitars are nice and easy to play. I would recommend getting an epiphone for about £250-£400. That way, you aint spending too much and you have a pretty decent bit of kit for your first guitar.
You could get some cheap thing for about £100-£150 but that will start to limit you in a few months time.

Will let my dad pick it as not only does he know a fair bit about them but I also want some kind of surprise with it.
