Its not so easy to push these rumours aside when a member of Microsoft (Robbie Bach ?) mentioned that Rare were only to be the first of a number of developers Microsoft are looking to buy.
Has to be said, if Microsoft are successful in adding both Capcom and Sega as exclusive developers, the competition are in real trouble.
Both companies have very strong titles to their names. Especially Sega with their excellent games.
Then of course Capcom are already providing us with Steel Battalion, Capcom Vs SNK and Marvel Vs Capcom and we all know what other games they are responsible for. :-)
CAPCOM have a contract with Nintendo, unlike Rare, and also, unlike Rare, they would be a substansial loss. If anyone's looking at buying the out or purchasing some shares, I'd put my money on Nintendo.
Also Maverick Shenmue 2 on GC is my opinion will never happen, just a rumour, i explained the reasons in the DC forum.
Sega are bringing some excellent ames to the Xbox.
I agree Sav, MS buying Rare was an excellent buisness move, Capcom would'nt be that important, although it could help improve sales in Japan.

Then again, Sega also develloped GC based arcade kit - the Triforce.
I think Sega are just taking all corners when it comes to arcade.
I don't think that neither Capcom or Sega are for sale.
MS did get Rare, but that was under special circumstances.
Rare was LOOKING to be sold.
Bill Gates can but his cheque book away and put his money member back in the flie.
Maybe SEGA & Capcom will wait and see how the sales of XBOX go over the Christmas period and just beyond before accepting MS's wads of cash.
The more developers exclsively tied to MS/XBOX the better: playing a game which has been made especially for the console you own fully utilizing it's power is much better than playing ports and multi-format releases.
Rare was a superb move by Microsoft. If they're going to look further into buying other developers, it has to be the big names that have brought us some of the best games.
Sega and Capcom are 2 of the best developers around. To add these to Rare would be awesome.
And Nomad - Sega struggling right now, if anything, actually supports

True. But another reason why SEGA would refuse Microsoft's advances is that being bought by an American company might be viewed by many Japanese gaming fans as selling out. It could seriously dent their credibility (in Japan).
-Maybe?-
From what I saw, the GC's Sega list comprises mainly of a bunch of Sonic titles.
When it comes to the games Sega are well known for, X-Box definatly has the higher quality list.
Panzer Dragoon Orta and Toejam & Earl 3 are due out before Christmas. Both have had plenty of coverage and are looking great. As far as Crazy Taxi goes, I'd rather have the latest game than the first. Virtua Striker is pretty pants in my opinion - played it on the DC.
The X-Box seem to be sharing practically the same sports titles. Shenmue 2 is coming to X-Box, no ifs, buts or maybes like someone (Dringo or Mav ?) said about the the GC.
Don't get me wrong, Sonic is a great game, but as far as variation in Sega's top titles go, X-Box is definatly the console to have for them.
And Nomad - Sega struggling right now, if anything, actually supports the idea of them going to Microsoft. Afterall, if Microsoft take them in as a first party developer, its basically problem solved. Same reason as Capcom could well be on the way to the X-Box as an exclusive developer.
But considering SEGA's current debt problems, I'm not sure it would be a good strategy for them to limit their profit potential by alligning themselves exclusively with one console at this point in time....
Nice rumour though - let's hope it's true :)
