At the moment, Rumour has it that Microsoft are looking to get Capcom and Sega, just like they did with Rare.
Its not so easy to push these rumours aside when a member of Microsoft (Robbie Bach ?) mentioned that Rare were only to be the first of a number of developers Microsoft are looking to buy.

Has to be said, if Microsoft are successful in adding both Capcom and Sega as exclusive developers, the competition are in real trouble.
Both companies have very strong titles to their names. Especially Sega with their excellent games.
Then of course Capcom are already providing us with Steel Battalion, Capcom Vs SNK and Marvel Vs Capcom and we all know what other games they are responsible for. :-)

Plus they only announced it today then I bet you it will end up rushed and not very good. Still though you can get loads of great titles like... erm... Metroid Prime and... possibly Driven 2!

I think you can forget about the Capcom rumours, they announced a new game today and warra pity it's not coming out on Xbox.

From cube-europe.com

Today, Capcom has announced it is working on a new game for the GameCube and PS2: Critical Bullet - 7th Target. In the game you will play the good looking young woman named Sara. The action takes place in he future, in 2062 in New York to be exact. Capcom also announced it will be released the 26th of October for the PS2 and in the beginning of 2003 for GameCube

I wouldn't have thought Sega would need to be bought out. But theres the odd rumour that suggests they want to commit to one platform. That being the case, then you'd have to be mad not to want them on the console you own, wether you own an X-Box, GC or PS2.

Same goes for Capcom too, although they don't quite have the pull that Sega does.

Still, these devellopment teams are still under one company, and I doubt they'll be up for sale.

Thing is, Sega isn't strictly one company now. They've been split up into seperate development houses such as AM2, Hitmaker etc. The different Houses seem to prefer different platforms, as Xbox has had all the games from a couple of Houses, and another couple of Houses have only released stuff on GC.

You obviously didn't get what I meant when I said about access to superb games. I meant MS getting Capcom would get MS access to some superb titles for the X-Box.

Unless the likes of Devil May Cry, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil have become crap overnight of course.

That's all Microsoft can do, pump money into them through Gates's money member.

What 'superb' games can thy give them acess to?

Anyway this whole Capcom needing a buyout was created by Special Reserve, I see nothing about it on any other sites so let's just foget about it.

I think Microsoft are a big possibility though. Afterall, if Capcom are having trouble financially, MS can pump a lot more money into them and it would help MS get their foot in the door in Japan.
Not to mention give them access to some superb games.
