I am not laughing at Rare, Rare were my third favourite company and my first favourite company kicked 'em out to you guys. Oh no I'm laughing at the fact that Microsoft expect Rare to release 5 games in 2 years....

Trust me it won't happen.

I think we'd better make on thing straight.

As good as Rare are, they're not quite as good as Nintendo.

Everytime they make a game similar to Nintendo's, Nintendo's version of the game is always superior.

Banjo and Dk64 were alright, but no Mario 64.
Dinosuar Planet has great graphics etc...
But it's still a big disappointment for people expecting something of a Zelda quality (hence the mixed reviews).

Rare's best games have come from making the sort of games that Nintendo don't do.

Goldeneye and Perfect Dark (Nintendo did't make FPS's - this was pre Metroid btw), Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corps and Conker (which although it was a platformer, it's sucess did not lie in it's platforming, which wasn't as good as Mario 64's platforming... not that it mattered!).

Rare are great. Best of the west. But not quite Nintendo...

Rockstar are just publishers, not devellopers.
That's why their games are hit and miss.

Coincidently, the GTA series comes from the DMA devellopment team (based in Scotland I think... you'll have to ask Bonus), who were also responsible for Lemmings and Snes classic Unirally.
Rockstars "best" were keen to work with the Gamecube's hardware (naturally, the best games designers know good hardware when they see it), only snooty publisher Rockstar snubbed their nose at being associated with a kiddies console and Nintendo didn't like GTA's violence...

Anyway, even if MGS (Microsoft Games Studio's I think...) are co-develloping Blinx, they're clearly not the brains behind it.
An Ex Sonic Team artist designed the games (Shigsy is also an artist by the way), and although the MS programmers needed some therapy before coding a game that WASN'T 100% lifelike and realistic, they seem to have hardened up to the concept and seem to be managing to keep up with their imaginative designer. :-)

Whoever thought MS could come up with Blinx themselves should get to know the company better. MS employees couldn't think of the cartoony cat character, let alone come up with gameplay ideas like stopping time...

And that's why MS are clever enough to let Sega and Rare make the ideas for them, and get on with what they do best - make technically sound and efficient devellopment kits and online networks.

I was about to have a laugh at them, then I realised you said Myth, and not Myst.

Oni, the Marathon series & Myth as well as a few others
They were primarily Macintosh developers, Marathon was the Mac's answer to doom and quite good it was too.
Myth ruled too.

Exactly Rickoss.

Allow me to write it again exactly how it was:

Duh.

That's the biggest load of rubbish I ever did see.

Rare have always been in Nintendo's shadow,

Rockstar made GTA3 which apparently was good but IMO was boring, then they went on to make State of Emergency which was rubbish.

Bungie made Halo, great game, what else have they done though?

Blizzard phft that doesn't even deserve a reply

Who on earth are team Ninja? they got a kick *insert rude word here* name though i'll give 'em that, Ninja's rule.

The closest to being as good as Nintendo are Rare, they're games are varied and tend to be of a very high standard.

You nonce, he's talking about Starfox, not Dino Planet.

What the hell does that mean? Haven't been buying any magazines recently for the past month and a half have you, even CVG mag has more than 10 shots of the game. The one with the most has to be the latest CUBE mag there has to be over 30 pics here.

Oh and just to show you haven't got a clue what your talking about anyway:

It's a great game, just short. I doubt you've played it.

> Mario Sunshine = Another Mario game?
Yes...which means another absolutely brilliant game from Nintendo. I'm sure if I looked at the X-box release schedule and said "Another army game!!??" you'd be quick to claim there all totally different and unique and they all rule, because thats just you isn't it.

> Doshin = Doesn't appeal to me
Well thats fair enough.

> Waverace = Never liked the first on N64, thought it was
> rubbish
Well thats a minority opinon, but valid all the same.

> Starfox (not Dino) = Mixed reviews but looks good
Excuse me? What reviews? Theres barely been any screen shots of this game so far! (about 3, I think)

> Thr Legend of Zelda = Remake of a great game but its just a remake.
errr...no it isn't. It's totally new, you know, cell shaded, sister etc.

> Mario Party = LOL
Yes it is a great laugh, one of the best multi-player games ever made.

> Mario Tennis = LOL
> Mario Golf = LOL
Well you've obviously never played these games, or you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss their sequels. They are great games and offer a different style of play to all those dull, uninteresting realistic versions out there. Again, they are fantastic party games.

> Mario Kart = great racing game and a great title!
Damn right.

> Metroid Prime = Looks good so far, should be a great game!
Again^

> Eternal Darkness = Good game and good reviews, bit like RE!
Replace 'good' with 'great' and [nothing] like RE and you've got it.

Read that previous post, this wasn't about console exclusives, your just looking to start another pathetic console war argument.

> there are better developers out there than Nintendo.

>Bungie
And this is the same Bungee thats made...err..one game?

> Rockstar/Take 2,

uhh..I'd have to disagree there. While they do make some class games, they make plenty of bad ones. GTA may be a huge hit, but I find it an insufferable bore after a little while. Mafia is much better.

>Team Ninja
Sorry, don't know them.

>Blizard soft make just as good a games
Yes...like Starcraft on the GC :) (yes I know it's multi-format) And where did the 'soft' come from? As far as I'm aware it's just Blizzard.

>but once again the name must make it better, or not :)

Either that or a big, ugly, garish, fat X slapped on the box, wouldn't you agree?

What are you talking about?

Surprise surprise, you didn't read my post. Nope, you turned it into me trying to reel off a list of GC exclusives to make it look better.

When in actual fact I was responding to Savatt about how Nintendo haven't made any new games for the GBA in a while, because they've been so busy making all those games in such a short space of time. Do you see?

I can name a list as long as this for the Xbox exclusives if not longer! I know they are part of Nintendo but at the end of the day there are better developers out there than Nintendo. Rare, Bungie, Rockstar/Take 2, Team Ninja and Blizard soft make just as good a games as Nintendo, but once again the name must make it better, or not :)
