I for one can't wait to see if the Getaway can come up with the kind of gameplay and graphics that it reputes to have. Having seen the screenshots signs are very encouraging.

The thing is a friend of mine asked if there was going to be a GC version. A Gamecube disc would not be able to store 1 square mile of London let alone 20miles, so sorry mate you stick to your kiddie titles like Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon.

Asher - I think you'll find that early versions of all software crash frequently. The game is complete now, and from the videos I've seen, it looks like the PS2 handles it just fine. :-)

This is all irrelevant, as The Getaway is developed in-house by Sony, and so would never appear on another platform anyway.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but still!

FF has been cut down to one disc because on PSone they had to store all those pre-rendered backgrounds whilst on PS2 it was generated out of polygons.

And Dave RJR, got to Meka's Man Weds A Console topic.

You gimp.

Lets us not forget that the FF games were split onto more than one disc - on ps1. You cannot compare 1995 ps1 to GameCube, Xbox, or PS2. Back then, there was now way around the problem. But that was a different time. Today we have DVD - not just because it can play movies, and not like some kind of add on feature - but as part of the standard design - used for games. Modern games use this so they don't have to split onto more than one disc.

Sort of agree there. It looks to be living off graphics and submitting the gameplay in the process. Looks more like Headhunter than GTA.

Muuuuh!

If the Gamecube is an expensive PS2 emulator, and has been living off PS2 ports, why does the top ten look like this:

1. Super Smash Brothers Melee (Nintendo)
2. Pikmin (Nintendo)
3. Star Wars Rogue Leader (LucasArts)
4. Luigi’s Mansion (Nintendo)
5. Super Monkey Ball (Infogrames)
6. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (Infogrames)
7. Lost Kingdoms (Activision)
8. 007 – Agent Under Fire (Electronic Arts)
9. Spiderman: The Movie (Activision)
10. Waverace: Blue Storm (Nintendo)

Only Agent Under Fire and Spiderman also appear on the PS2, and Spiderman was released at the same time on all formats.

Also, considering that GC discs are considerably bigger than the cartridges the N64 used, and the N64 had games as big as Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, I don't think that it's a huge issue, especially as I have the ability to change discs if really necessary.

I bet you weren't complaining when the Playstation had the huge FF games over a number of discs?

Anyway, do you really think games will get that much bigger? Developers can't afford for them to be, they want people to finish with games, then buy another.

The extra space is often used for so called 'extras' rather than increasing the size of the game itself, as it simply isn't good business sense.

AfroJoe, You are a genius.

Oh, and DaveRJR, don't copy really long posts just so that you can put a small comment at the bottom.

How amazing stupid.

Nintendo developers will struggle?? Whats that about, Nintendo made the console, so they are going to make the games big enought to match it.

I bet most games on DVD only use about 1GB, the added extras are just going to be sound files.....
