"Nintendo GameCube - Is it Just For Kids?"

Nintendo have a childish image, there is no question about that. Everyone who owns a PS2 or X-Box know that and uses it to torment the owners of every 'Cube owner in exsistance, but the question is if the GameCube is for children.

Games like Mario and Pokemon do nothing to kill the image, and if Nintendo are trying to get rid of this preconcieved idea with these games, they are creating a rod for their own back. Games full of bright colours and cute characters aren't really 'adult' are they?

But many people think that a game needs to be full of dark, dingy alleyways and full of crimson liquid to be suitable for a mature audience. Mario games often provide much more of a challenge than a 'survival horor game. Remember 'Mario 64'? that was one of the hardest games on the planet but many people still thought it was for kids.

I personally think that Nintendo and the GameCube is not for a younger audience, but it is just for gamers in general, but it isn't what I think that is mportant, it is what YOU think. Is the 'cube for kids or do you know that any true gamer can enjoy it.

Anyone who thinks gamecube is a kids console is just stupid.
Resident Evil, Turok Evolution? They're hardly kids games, and anyway, stuff like Rougue Leader is probably too hard for most younger kids anyway.

Ive just read through the 4 pages of this thread from start to finish cos it sounded like an interesting topic...

What i actually saw were 3 pages of "sod off Tosh, no-one likes you"

Now i think im right when i say he's only 11 years old, c'mon guys you dont need to give him a hard time, no matter if his spelling sux or if his attitude is questionable, its nothing short of bullying what you have done to the poor guy (dont matter if he deserves it or not)

This is a gaming forum so lets please keep the personal sarcastic attacks to ourselves.

And yes, the GC is in my opinion a little immature with some of its titles but that wont stop me buying a GC, i dont have to play those "childish" games, i can always play Resident Evil and the like :)

like i said most people who say GC is kiddy are only doing it becuase they have a PS2 with games like that so they feel more "adult", the fact they sound, and most proberly are, 12-14 year olds means that there will be more people posting it in here as they have no jobs to go to.

Take GTA3. Take out guns, put in paint ball shooters.
Take out innocent pedestrians, put in negative point indicators.
Take out killing, put in warping people to some orbiting spaceship with paintball guns.
Take out beating people with baseball bats, put in using a magic spell to make them leave you alone or become impassive.

Without changing any of the gameplay, the vast majority of people who praise GTA, will now call it a kids game.

Such is the maturity of people who claim the GC is a kids console.

Who is more childish, the people who go for the better gameplay, or the people who go for violence and death, simply because it's "cool"?

A point worth pondering.
