"The results of the largest survey of gamers this year has revealed that Xbox is the top console of choice this Christmas.
Over 12,000 US gamers were asked, "What console do you plan to buy in the coming year?" and 39 percent answered Xbox! 27 percent answered PlayStation 2, and 17 percent plan to pick up a GameCube.
The study also showed that game demos are the most influence over game purchase decisions. When asked "Which of these items highly influence your game purchase decisions?" nearly 8 out of 10 respondents (78%) ranked game demos the number 1 factor, far ahead of the number 2 response: game reviews (47%). Both television commercials (35%) and magazine ads (31%) trailed furthest behind as drivers."
Not bad eh?
It will be like Neverwinter Nights, if you use a modem you can only host for 6 players, if you have broadband you can host for 64.
So on Mario Kart they may only be able to race with 3 other people, instead of the full 8 or 10 or whatever. But that doesn't matter, they can still play online if they want to.
And with Nintendo's attitude towards online gaming, don't expect much of a list to materialise anytime soon mate.

Actually it didn't really. Well, if you had the patience of a saint then it just about managed. If you wanted to get online to play games on the right side of Christmas you were gonna be in for a frustrating time though.
I mean don't get me wrong, I've got a lot of time for Sega for trying it. Unfortunatly, once the games got half busy you were lucky to get on and when you did, 9 times out of 10 you would be swearing at the lag.
I didn't have too much problem with Phantasy Star Online as far as lag goes. When that got busy it was just a pain in the backside to get on.
Quake 3 was a nightmare most of the time though. I had to play at stupid times when it was a little quieter to get a decent game online.
> Urgh, Even when (and if) Nintendo release online, the 56k will
> SERIOUSLY lag games.
Actually, the Dreamcast managed fine with 36K.
Consoles are more efficient than PC's which have to manage with windows etc all running at the same time.
Still, broadband is much better.
And anyway, both the broadband adaptor AND the modem have been released in Japan alongside Phantasy Star.
Still, Xbox live beats anything Nintendo have planned - online being MS's area of expertise. Nintendo still rips MS on the ofline content side, though, so there! :-P
A 56k modem should just about handle Phantasy Star Online with its 4 player teams - providing the server isn't too busy with players. Phantasy Star Online is the only online game GC has coming for it at the moment.
