Good spot, apology from me, I misread what he said :(

cjh, for your info, I started off on the 62.xxx scheme and noticed a while ago that I had changed to the 81.xxx scheme. Over the weekend I checked my IP and saw that I'd reverted back to the 62 scheme, yesterday Pipex went down again at home and I finally got it back last night at about midnight although I didn't know about it.

Checked my IP this morning, back on the 81 scheme, I'm really not sure wtf is going on with my connection but will be keeping a close eye on my IP from now on.

I never read any of that before, so had assumed it was a Static IP. I havn't paid anything to Pipex for a Static IP, so I guess it falls under the Dynamic IP catagory.

Taken from ADSL Guide..

"Pipex Dynamic IP's - these are currently sticky, in that you are likely to retain the same IP for days and weeks, it is still dynamic in the sense that Pipex can change the allocation of these at will, but do so infrequently. No amount of logging on/off will change the IP and neither will ipconfig /renew commands. "

Been with them since mid-late June and they havent changed my IP once. Not bothered about it though as I dont run any server of any kind.

Pipex also supply a fixed IP if you so require, they charge a fee for this as can be expected.

Most normal home users will just use the dynamic IP addresses as there usually isn't an inconvience......until the weekend just gone by.

I think you'll find cjh already has a static IP as per his post so I doubt he'll need reminding.

Pipex supply a Dynamic IP. This is because they can, and will, change your IP at anytime, but only choose to do this occassionally.

Well I'm glad to see you've got a static IP, as for the topic, I did see that but as I said I'll let other people help you out on that area. I've never setup a web server so people who know what they are doing will be alot more usefull :D

Good luck.
