"don't buy lord of the rings on dvd or video"

According to a friendly internet rumour there is going to be a new version released towards the end of the year which has over 30 minutes additional uncut footage in it. Just a rumour which i heard might not be true but id recommend checking it out before buying.

Also is there any way to make the DVD non-widescreen, the picture on my tv is tiny.

Well, twas. Created by the Valar, Elros went and squatted on it, the last king was corrupted by Sauron and trying to sail on The Undying Lands. So The Valar sunk it (twas an island) and only a few people ran away - including Elendil and Isildur, who then got bored and founded Arnor and Gondor.
