I also have what many (including myself) would describe as an unhealthy obsession with guns. I can tell you what caliber rounds an M4A1 Carbine assault rifle fires, three different names for the SA80, what the hell an M203 is, the difference between an AK47 and an AK74, and why you need to be afraid of Vinnie Jones in Snatch telling you he has “Desert Eagle, point five oh” written down the side of his.
However, despite what the press will tell you, I am not yet a homicidal lunatic. Finding out so much information about firearms and seeing people die in horrific ways on screen has taught me a lot. As a result, I am about as anti-guns as anyone you’re likely to meet. The idea of them being freely available to the public as they are in America terrifies me. The idea of people keeping them and firing them for fun disgusts me. They are lethal weapons. They are not for “fun”. You may be the sanest person in the world but to own a gun is dangerous in so many ways, as I have seen for myself (as closely as I ever want to). I have to admit that it seems conceivable that violence on the scale of SoF2 may push an already unbalanced person over the edge, but anyone possessing a sound and rational mind can only draw one conclusion. Mr. Heckler, Mr. Koch, take your guns and stick them where the sun don't shine. If the tabloids feel like a headline, how about “Computer games taught me guns are evil”.

It's Mrs Boucher - get him! Anyway, seriously, that's a fair opinion, as I think if most people are honest, they wouldn't like to see a firearm in real life.

I guess the firework thing makes sense... thanks for that.
but as to "they kill, but for the most part, for good"... WHAT?!?!?!?
christ on a crutch, what are you chatting about? You think guns killing people is mostly good? jeeeeeesus.
On the other hand, your point about them having uses is valid. I'm afraid I would have to agree that I think the police making use of them is a good thing, because criminals should be stopped (especially those with guns...) but I'd rather they didn't kill people - shoot to incapacitate or use rubber bullets or whatever.
Unfortunately, the remark about "guns don't kill people, bullets do" is wrong for so many reasons...

Heck yeah. Anyone can pull a trigger, but it takes a real man to throw a punch
And yes, you had enough Jo's in it :)
As for Lord H, Edgy etc argued my point for me. Guns are designed to kill, knives and cars and cricket bats aren't
I do know a fairly scary

Yup, me too! Though I'm s**till not convinced the five - seven is a real gun.
but one thing I got

My point exactly. Lord H, do you think that the depiction of these weapons in games is inaccurate? Do you think that when somone gets shot in reality it is any different to what you see on screen? If not, do you think the results of using these weapons on other people are acceptable?
Yes, shooting is a legitimate sport but it's a hell of a lot more popular in America, where guns are freely available. I know it's a tired argument, but you jus**t have to look at the proportional rate of GSWs in the USA (proportional as in per, say, 100,000 people). The result of people carrying weapons is that people get shot. Not only that, but you are 68% more likely to shoot a family member than an intruder. That means the majority of shootings are accidents, so you could be the mos**t sensible, careful person in the world and s**till end up shooting people close to you. And that's not even s**tarting on those that intend to shoot each other...
incidentally, you make a sh*t argument.
As I said, guns were and are made to kill.
Sure, it's fun shooting, I've done it myself. But guns are still VERY dangerous weapons and I feel that the government, especially the US government, should be more strict with them.
You don't half talk some absolute bullsh*t.....
