Hats off to Sony unlike MS and Ninty they are there to make gaming affordable unlike the others who are only interested in profit.

Sony scored a big hit with the PS1 and platinum games, which were affordable quality games that had to sell a certain amount to turn platinum, while N64 was still trying to sell cartridges for £64.99 Sony's platinum range came in at £19.99 and proved a big hit.

I am glad to see they are carryiing on the tradition with there PS2 platinum range. I mean lets face it GT3 is a far superior game to Project Gotham and yet it is have the price. They say you have to pay for quality but on this evidence you don't.

This new GC disc might look nice, but at the end of the day it only holds 1.5Gb of data on 1 side. A DVD can hold 8.5Gb on 1 side using dual layer mode or 4.25Gb of data on 1 side in single layer mode. The GC discs are still custom, so the press tooling and printing setups are all non-standard - which will mean a greater expense. Pressing & printing plants can use existing DVD templates from the PC and/or home DVD movie market - but this is not the case with GC discs.

I'm sure Microsoft and Nintendo will bring the same sort of Platinum ranges in further into the consoles life, remember they've only been out a few months you can't expect them to start dropping the prices yet. Sony brought out the platinum series about a year into the Ps2's life.

Stop doing all these annoyingly boring console war starting post please Mr Freak, you're just becoming a right royal pain in the A55

Nice one. Comparing the most expensive price for an N64 game with the lowest price for a PSone game. How about £10 N64 games compared with initial £45 PlayStation games. Not so cocky now, are you?

The fact that the GameCube is more affordable than the PS2 obviously doesn't come into the equation here.

What site did you copy this small piece of text from?

I know there'd be no reason for you to copy this small piece of text normally, but you don't seem the type to have a clue what you're talking about normally.

Oh, I'm sorry. If you read my post properly, you'd have noticed the sarcastic smiley at the end of the post. And you may have also noticed the post after that one where I came to my senses.

Sorry Jez13, but you fell for the bait. This proves you are a fanboy and are indeed trying to get everyone to think the same as you. I feel sorry for you.

With that in mind, why were they still notably more expensive than PC games?

Oh yes, Nintendo are really ripping us off by bringing the GameCube out £70.00 cheaper than anything else. Also, GameCube games retail around £34.99, whereas PS2 games are around £44.99.

N64 games were around £44.99 new, not £64.99. You're about £20.00 off there mate. Also, you say 'Sony scored a big hit with platinum games'. So did the N64 with the praised 'Pocket Money Range' (It was either that or the Gold collection, I can't remember) that brought N64 games out at around £29.99/£19.99.

Now Nintendo have switched to the 8cm disc format, we'll be seeing GameCube games coming out a lot cheaper than PS2 ones. It's also highly likely that they'll also have their own 'platinum' range.
