Nintendo 64 - WWF No Mercy (preview)
Welcome to the grand preview of the most anticipated release of the game WWF No Mercy for the Nintendo 64 entertainment system.
No Mercy is the last of it's kind in the hit series from THQ including: WCW vs. The World, WCW vs. nWo, WCW Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000 and now No Mercy. It is the last reproduction of this engine because THQ has undoubtedly decided to progress further into the market and develop for the next wave of systems (i.e. Sega Dreamcast, Sony Playstation 2, and the Dolphin *name subject to change*) You can just imagine the possibilities that Aki will produce in the near future, mind boggling, just mind boggling. Well enough of the introduction, because chances are you just want the preview...... lets mosey on.
OVERVIEW:
How can THQ possibly do what they do, how could they possibly manufacture a game even better and more advanced than WrestleMania 2000? Who the hell knows but they've done it again with No Mercy.
At first glance you'll notice that No Mercy is strikingly similar to WM 2k..... well that's because it's a clone. WM 2K's engine is the best and most popular engine on the Nintendo 64, mostly because of it's nice, blocky, life like graphics, and it's pick up and go controls. In WWF Attitude, players hated how you pressed up, down, left, right, do a cartwheel while balancing pooh on a stick above your head just to do a DDT. Not only is the WM 2k style comfortable for your hand to control..... it's easier to learn as well.
THQ is the publisher of this title, don't get publisher and developer mixed up now. AKI produces the game, does what is needed to do to get you guys to like it. (and believe me you do) THQ introduces it, advertises it and makes it have more of a feel for the WWF fans, but AKI does the brunt of the work for the most part, commend them on a job well done
-MEDI.
P.S. You can play as 'ANDRE THE GIANT' on the new game, and Raven might...MIGHT be added in time for the relase.
Are there any new modes exept iron man match, ladder and special ref? does n e 1 know please tell me! i need more info!
First off, each belt has its own mode, meaning that you choose which belt you go after. Plus, each belt has its own, unique story and the career mode will be very different based on the belt you go after. Each and every WWF belt has its own story mode, from the Light Heavyweight Title to the Women's Title to the World Title. Every belt has its own storyline and its own mode.
Another major improvement over WM2K is the variety of matches you will wrestle. Not only will backstage "Hardcore" matches take place, but handicap matches, matches where you must win in a certain amount of time. The depth is amazing and you'll never get bored because as soon as you get done with a singles match, you'll have a 3-way, or a 4-way to deal with.
Third great move is the use of "cut-scenes" in No Mercy. After every match, you'll see at least one, or sometimes two cut-scenes with your wrestler plotting backstage, or being confronted by another wrestler. You can even join DX or hire the APA. The career mode is very realistic and the cut scenes are fun to watch (The Women's Swimsuit Contest cut scene being the best) and add a lot to the career mode.
For example, the WWF World Title career mode is exactly like the storyline earlier this year for the WWF title, down to the promos. You win the Rumble, a wrestler claims you won it unfairly and your feet hit the floor, they get video proof, Shane McMahon returns and turns against you, Vince McMahon returns to get you your shot back, Linda McMahon's puts Mick Foley in the main event, and finally Vince turns. It's amazingly perfect.
The career mode is really amazing and will add so much to this game, and that's not even mentioning you earn money in this mode (Anywhere from $300-$2000 per win) to use in the Smackdown Mall. It's really incredible.
What does all of this mean? Well, wrestling games will no longer be tied down due to lack of resources. With 1.5 gigs to work with on GAME CUBES mini proprietary DVD's , wrestling developers like AKI and Yukes will have no problem including everything you ever wanted in a game - and no excuses either. Contrary to Sony's PSX2, Nintendo has catered to programmers and has made GAME CUBE a very simple system to make games for. Third party developers are welcomed with arms wide open.
GAMECUBE will be packed-in with a 56k modem that may be used to post scores, exchange data with other players, download characters or play head-to-head on Nintendo's broadband Blue-Tooth network. An additional broadband ethernet card will be available at the console's launch. You'll never have to play wrestling games alone with GAMECUBE. Imagine putting your personal created wrestler up against a friend or stranger thousands of miles away! Imagine trading created wrestlers made by other people you haven't even met! The world has become a smaller place because of the Internet and Nintendo.
Now, GAME CUBE not only looks good but it will sound even better. Factor 5 provides a custom version of their world renound MuSyx music and audio tools and chip. There are also 16mb of RAM just for sound. Expect crystal clear entrance music in the next generation of wrestling games along with comfort of Dolby surround sound. Nintendo realized the art of sound in videogames with GAME CUBE- expect many masterpiece games to come.
Along with the console itself (which will range from 200 - 300 UK pounds) Nintendo GAME CUBE games are going to be incredible and inexpensive to buy. But the most important news coming out of SpaceWorld 2000 was the release date of GAME CUBE. Expect to get your hands on it October 2001 in the US - so get your reserve ticket and start thinking about making history with GAME CUBE.

this is the god,
both games will be the same as they are both made by THQ and will use the same engine etc. so stop arguing and face the facts.
Sorry "Nintendo_God" but WWF NM is developed by AKI and SD2 is developed by YUKES. THQ is just publishing them. God indeed, tut.
