Details on each game:
Smackdown 2: Huge backstage area. A dozen or so interactive backstage areas, a roster of around 60 and one of the best create a wrestlers ever to grace a wrestling game. New modes like Hell in a Cell, ladder match, caket match, tables match, tornado match and an iron match and the old modes from smackdown makes acclaim look a little smaller in the modes department. A somewhat better career mode is also installed. Also their are now 5 different creates in this game which involve create a paperview, create a wrestler, create a taunt, create a manager, and create a stable.
No Mercy: The number one wrestling engine ever is coming back with now new interactive backstage areas and surprisingly one of the best career modes I have ever seen. This time around, there are more modes to choose from like the ladder match and iron man match and handicap match. There is now a huge roster to go with it plus the smackdown mall is probably the greatest thing ever to get into a wrestling game.
Surprises for both games:
Smackdown 2: The create a wrestler, create a taunt and create a stable. This honestly surprised me. Yukes went from one of the shitties efforts for a create a wrestler to one of the best create a wrestlers I have ever seen. You can create every little aspect of a person and you can create a manager, you can create a taunt and you can put them in a corisponding stable. You can also edit every wrestling in the game. I thought Yukes was going to put up a poor effort in this area but they proved me wrong and when it comes to the creates, smackdown beats No Mercy.
No Mercy: The career mode. When I first heard of the career mode with a story for each belt, I didn't think it would be much better then WWF2k's and well, I was wrong. No Mercys career mode is top notch with a lot of interaction and a great story to go along with the wrestling. You win money which gets put into an account and then you can use it in the smackdown mall. This may turn out as the shining part of this game and the main focus. This defently beats out smackdowns career mode. Also, backstage areas surprised me and I must say, Aki has done a great job with getting that in.
Disapointments:
First off, for both games, I am really disapointed in entrances. I know there not a very important acpect of the game, and they only last a few seconds, but it seems by each game, entrances get worse.
Smackdown 2: There are two things I am disapointed with. The first one is the career mode. Ya, it looks a little better then the first one, but lets face it, it is the same old rubbish. There is no real plot that involves your wrestler. It is just mindless cut scenes that have almost nothing to do with anything and are just a waist of space. At least this time, you fight one a week until a paperview, not just once a month. Hopefully, they will have the concept of feud in this game instead of mindless fighting. The other thing I am disapointed about in this game is the little improvement on the engine. There is just not enough moves. I love the way it runs smoothly and all the modes, but it needs a better engine to corespond with the game. But still, this is a good solid game.
No Mercy: Its not really anything in the game, its what was taken out and what they didn't add. I am a little disapointed in the taking out of the create a belt and how they have very little improvement over the first create a wrestler. There are also a few other little things but I don't think any of them are major. NO Mercy is an example of a well done sequel.
Great things about the game:
Both games: Both games are well done sequels, they improve on almost everything and the new modes are worth the wait alone. Also, with break able announce tables
Smackdown 2: The modes. It is amazing. Not only have they got new modes like the ladder match, Hell in a cell, casket, tables, tornado and iron man match, and the old modes like I quit, steel cage, battle royal, royal rumble, 3 way, 4 way, 1 on 2, 1 on 3,vs, hardcore, falls anywhere, special guest ref and king of the ring. THey also took a page out of acclaim by being able to mix up some of these modes and now, you can have say a hardcore match with two special guest refs, or a tripple threat match with a special guest ref ect. The graphics are top notch and are really impressive. The backstage areas are large and interactive. The creates in this game are amazing. This game has the potential to be one of the best games on the PSX.
No Mercy: Ofcourse, the career mode is one of the best aspects of this game as I went over before. The same create a paperview and create a wrestler are back which is good news. The smackdown mall which allows you to buy different wrestlers, clothes, weapons and moves is a great inovation in a wrestling game. No Mercy's engine is the best I have ever seen. Graphic and sound wise, its not as good as smackdown but I love the animation in No Mercy and it puts a good feel in the game. The moves are fluid and solid and the ammount of moves is staggering. With now a ladder match, iron man match and a special guest ref mode, Their is no doubt in my mind that No Mercy will be one of the top sellers.

Over all, I think No Mercy is going to come out to be a better game than Smackdown. Three reasons, and that is because of No Mercy's game play, the smackdown mall which adds replay value, and the career mode. Smackdown though still may come out on top with its vast ammount of great modes and the best amount of things to create I have ever seen. Still, gameplay is a must, and I think No Mercy will end up being the better of two great games.
c rap. Also, there are a load of backstage arenas for Smackdown 2, as well as matches such as: Ladder Match, Table match, Tables Ladders and Chairs match, Inferno match, Tornado match, 6 man tag team match, Iron Man match, cage match, hardcore, last man standing (I think), tag team, battle royal, 3 way dance, 4 way dance, Royal Rumble, King Of The Ring tournaments and many many more. I think if you look at the facts, they are both as good as eachother, although No Mercy may have better graphics as the N64 has double the bit. So if you have a PSX, get Smackdown 2, if you have a N64, get No Mercy, if you have both, it's your choice!!
Thanks for reading, Ant.
By the way hardys 2 xtreme I wrote a reply to your "No mercy v Smackdown 2????????" and I still really hate you. Oh, and you havn't changed your name yet which means I am going to come over to your house and kick your candy a$$.
a) It is too fast. No wait a minute. It is far too fast. Wait, let me try once more. It is so fast you can't even see you wrestler half the time. Flash Gordon couldn't even win.
b) Graphics. YUK!!!! I think thats all I need to say
about that.
c) Number of wrestlers. Pitiful compared to No Mercy.
d) No Spanish announce table to put Triple H through in incredibly ammusing ways.
e) It's on playstion.
f) Playstation hasn't really got a great pad. In fact thats puttinhg it lightly but I can't use the words I'd like to.
And "FINALLY VIC VEGA HAS COME BACK TO" THE LAST POINT. Smackdown 2 simply can't win because you said it had a chance and I don't like you. In fact, I would insult you in horrible ways but again I can't use the words I'd like to. Farewell........and change your name before I mock you some more.
