In one of the first PlayStation mags, it was reported that it couldn't actually be called that because the name was registered to another company - the mags weren't supposed to use it, either. But it just kinda stuck.
True, just look at the Gran Turismo games They may not be by Sony, but everyone associates them with the Playstation.
BTW when people write PSX, what does the X stand for? Is it because PS was already associated with Phantasy Star games by Sega, or does it stand for anything?
Sony do not directly make games, they publish them. Sony Studio Liverpool is just Psygnosis, who I believe were purchased while they were in financial difficulties a few years ago. It's a bit like the Nintendo/Rare situation, I'd imagine.
Thinking about it, are we correct in saying that PS has no icons? Or is it just that there are so many?
Agreed, there is no PS *exclusive* icon, but think of the 'cult' games that made their appearance on the little grey box.
Invariably, if you ask about icons for Nintendo or Sega machines, you will be met with countless replies of "Sonic", "Donkey Kong", "Mario" etc.
Ask the same abot PS, and you'll get Resident Evil, Tomb Raider/Lara Croft, Wipeout, Tekken, Ridge Racer etc.
Okay, so we don't have a *character* but there are plenty of 'iconic' games. Sure, some have later appeared on other platforms, but their success was built on PS.

Maybe you're right about Sony not being able to make great games (though this is an opinion that i and others do not share), but they sure do know how to put together a damn good console. The PSX blew everything else out of the water.
Now you live with that.
FMV's like Final Fantasy are too long and boring!
Maybe you should be able to exit the FMV when you want to.
i also like the FMV cut sequences and intros. it adds the cinamatic feeling.
like when i first got my PSX i got wipeout at launch and when i herd the music and saw the intro i was so amazed, i'm not saying the n64 is cruddy but it is, sorry j/k but when i got an n64 sheeesh i cant even remember my first game b,cos it had no impact of an FMV sequences
So there! Sony can't make games like Nintenod and Sega just live with it.
