...the Ps2 is still outselling the combined sales of the GC and Xbox by over 5 fold! (In Japan at least).

Sales for the week May 27th-June 2nd in Japan:

PS2: 60,000
GBA: 36,200
PS1: 7,900
Xbox: 5,700
GC: 5,400

They're old figures, I think the PS1 is still outselling the X-Box though.

i thought the Japanese rejected XBox...

Some Microsoft CEO or somthin said that Xbox2 will be out for the next world cup...wooooo

Apparantly microsoft has lost $750 million on producing and selling the x-box, and around $1.1billion in the next year or so.

That's a pi$s load of money, but with microsoft being as rich as it is, I'd say it's more likely to invest more money in the console to try and get in more profits.

It'd be interesting to see what microsoft do next for it's console, I can't see the company just giving up, not with the it's popularity in america an all.

I distintly remember at one point a Microsoft spokesperson saying that they considered cracking the Japanese market cruicial to guaging their success.

I wonder what they'd say now?

I think GC sales are likely to increase, XBOX sales should eventually too. PS2 sales will probably decline steadilly, but they'll still shift a large number of units...

Why is it called a GCN, and not NGC?

The PS2 sales figures have gone down but not by much, I think they sold something like 55,000. Judging by figures that's probably Microsofts sales estimation for the whole year.
