Yep that's right, there's been scores of these starting up, but all have failed. Let's make this thread a place for PC gamers to chat. Post anything you like in here, comments, reviews, but no spam please.

OK, lets keep this going gamers. For beige box and country!!
Or something like that. :)

Hmmm.Well I'm thinking of building my own system, and I'm thinking of building it around the Asus A7N8X motherboard. Its more of an upgrade really as I'll be keeping my original cd/dvd drives, graphics card(GeForce4 Ti 4200),modem etc.So a new hard drive, memory and cpu are on the books, only I've still not decided which cpu to go for - the XP2600 looks good value at the mo tho.

Another really irritating problem is when Norton Antivirus gets mucked up and the PC goes into safe mode for ages.

Yep it is. I spent £1500 on a PC and set it all up and it wouldnt even power on. Thought it was the PSU so put the PSU in another machine. It worked. Then we inspected the case and saw that the power switch on the case wasnt in place. So when the button was press it wasnt actually switching the PC on. As the switch was in a hard to see place we didnt really look to start with, plus you expect it all to be in place. But before we found the problem it must have been a good 30-60 mins of worry as I had spent most of my savings and was looking at a summer of working to earn the money back and to earn money for car insurance. But thats the chance you take when building a PC, at least mine was very simple and not a hardware problem but just a lose cable.

Never built from scratch yet, will next time. But I have done a few upgrades. Memory, CD writer etc. Quite good fun.

I was going to build my own computer, but I really wanted to replace my old PC ASAP so just opted for a pre-built one. Maybe the next time it comes to upgrade I can build my own, but that's not for a while yet.
