Anyway, I think it will be a bit pointless us 3 writing to EA and other big games companies, We'll just be ignored. These are multi-million pound industries that cater for millions of consumers, I very much doubt EA and the rest of them are going to shape up their ideas just from three messages. You'd need alot more people to complain to get these companies to listen.

Don't worry, I don't offend easily, I just haven't been on over the weekend. I only dislike it when people tell me that I don't know what irony means, as that is just plain insulting.

I think sopme companies do make games for cash, I know EA pulled the team who made Allied Assault from making anymore games based on the MOH series. That to me looks like EA are going to try and cash in on the success of the game, and milk the franchise for more profit. I think there will be a new MOH game in the future, and no doubt that'll be a cash in of MOH: AA.
Not every company does put profit before gameplay though. I don't think they have a choice in the matter. After all they need to please a wide audience of gamers, all with varied tastes and expectations for games. If a game is seen as a shallow and limited title, then many gamers won't buy it.
And so these games usually drop from the shop shelves and into the bargain bin, bringing in the game companies who made it lower profits then the expected. Gamers aren't like movie goers, they won't play the same crap over and over again just because the games have nice graphics.
As for the counter-strike modders, well I don't think they would be all that bothered about hardly anybody recognising their names. After all, they have made one of the most popular multiplayer games for the PC, from which dozens of clans and a popular online community has sprung from. I think that's what every games designer and modder tries to aim for when they create a new game/mod.
I also think that sierra are going to ruin this popular game by going commercial with it. The whole reason CS became popular in the first place was because it is free to download. Well would you pay £30 for a game you could download for free? I wouldn't. I think if sierra want to continue to build on the success of CS, they should add some slight improvements to the game while still making it available for free.
