Have you at freeola ever considered offeing a paid for service as well as the freebie???

With al this talk of not being able to upload via ADSL connections and not having the monthly pay packages for dial-ups, I think you might want to consider a paid for service for hosting???

Simpy it would be a case of £5 a month or something for the standard unlimited Webspace/E-mail and all the stuff you have at present, but with the added bonus of not being restricted to your dial-up, and alowwing use with ADSL or monthly dial-up packages to take advantage of the great service you offer.

Also, you could consider highr packages, with MySQL and all, maybe even Pre-installed Scripts, Secure Servers, Sub-Domains, the ability to let other people have an E-mail address with our Domains, without giving them our master usernames/password etc..

... what do ya' think???

The sooner something is done the better. I bet a lot of people out there have Broadband but have already bought a domain from Freeola. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee a month for 100MB of space and 5/10 POP3 addresses.

With having broadband, there is obviously no chance I will connect using a 56k modem so my site is forwarded to Tripod.

Not the best solution to web-hosting......

I see what your saying when u suggest limiting bandwidth, but noooooo.

That basically means no site hosted by freeola would not be classed as a great busy site!!!!

limit space is much better!

As I said I don't know all the details but I think this is something being looked into and something I would like to see.

I prefer limits to bandwidth, say 2-3GB limit. That way, if you're not expecting a lot of traffic, you can have whatever you want up on your site, but if you ARE expecting traffic, you have to be more conscious of your users taking up bandwidth too quickly, and so you'll make you pages smaller and by amazing co-incidence, faster loading. Already well on your way to making the customer king.

Most ISPs just limit web space cuz it's easier though, which I respect.

I bought a nice Asus AAM6000EV router so I could get access from my netowork, as far as I know though the modem Pipex sell is an external USB one, but they're very expensive, you'd be best off getting one from www.solwise.co.uk

Glidem, standard ADSL install is about £50 although at least one supplier is now offering it for free, I didn't pay for my install, I just bought a fancy router.

And about accounts, just wondering, if you plan on including things like MySQL on Sites for a monhley charge, would it be possible for you to allow mutiple Domains on one account... but run as saperate sites, rather than all pointing to the index page???? Its just I have 3 or 4 site/accounts with you, and paying monthly for each would cost a bomb
