The PS2 was going to be exactly the same, I also don't think that £25 for a memory card isn't that expensive when you consider the amount of game information you can store on it.
I think I've got about 20 odd games information stored on one memory card and it's only about half full or empty (whichever way you look at it).
Unless you buy WWF SD3 which takes up almost half the disc you'll be ok for a while, save up or borrow the extra £10 and go and get one.
You're getting a far better deal than soon-to-be Gamecube owners though, so don't worry too much.
They are 8Mb in size and store a hell of a lot of data
They are the same as Sony memory sticks which are a very fast and portable storage device, and such quality comes with a price tag
thay are about 16 times the size of a GC memory card which costs £15
So stop whining....
