I was going through the archive earlier and came across Turbo’s Web Design Pledge. Although I can vaguely remember this when it happened, I thought nothing of it, but upon reading it again, something really caught my eye.

“However, the forum is just being "used". Where as forums like the FOG are ever-popular, with people visiting regularly and generally having fun, the Web Design forum is merely being "used" for question and such like. Well, no longer! I want to turn this forum into a proper community.”

He is right here, this forum is only really used by people wanting questions answered, but I think that this forum is probably the best on the site. Mainly because nearly everyone in here knows what they are talking about. But I don’t like how the forum is used just for questions.

So here is what I propose, we use this thread for general chat. Not just web design, anything at all. Since not many people pass through this forum anymore, it won’t get spammed up too much, it’ll just be a place where people can go to be themselves.

If it doesn’t work, then fine. I just think this thread will be able to make this forum more of a community.

So… what’s up everyone? :0)

My PC isn't that crap, it works! good enough for anyone, it's a:

AMD K6 233Mhz
128Mb SDram (100Mhz) -
*poor motherboard aparantly can't take more than 128Mb :D
3.2Gb hdd
8Mb gfx
crap sound card

anyway, it runs nicely (hopefully) all the componants worked before arriving at my house, surely thats a good sign.

it's not crap anyway, it will be powerful enough to run all the stuff I need, it ran Fireworks and stuff like that before we upgraded so anything on Linux should run fine, i'll upgrade some stuff later on but my moneys being spread too thinly to get anything decent at the mo :(

MSN, ICQ, all available on Linux in various forms. Also:

It works with Minesweeper and friends too, perfectly usable on this 333. It also works very well with CS, if you have a GeForce. Some people report it's actually faster on Linux!

Heh, I did that for a couple of weeks with Luke. You soon learn out of necessity. Having no Internet connection for 3 days actually helped loads.

That doesn't sound complicated because sadly/luckily I have absolutly no idea what you were on about :D

File extensions do mean what you open the file with... I was just saying that all i've seen onLinux software is .tar.gz that being said I havn't really experienced much linux software in my life, so i'm not very reliable.

Anyway, Linux might be hard to start with, no idea how long you've been running it but it won't be impossible, it'll be stuck in my room so hopefully i'll have enough time to get used to it.

thanks for your help yet again :)

hopefully one day i'll understand your wise words, until then, i'll just nod and smile, hope you insult some more Newbies...*cough* did i write that?
