Ok, I'm interested. Lets have a look at the kind of websites you've all designed. Perhaps post 2 or 3 of the ones your most proud of.

My 3 are...

www.andi.tk
www.l2productions.co.uk
www.lewq.2y.net/andi/iroko

The last one, IROKO, is still under construction, but i like the design of it and its different from my others.

So, post away, increase your hit counts and lets get some constructive critacism (sp?) going.

Our budget is pretty large actually.

I went for Flash because it allows work to be viewed cross-platform, whereas Director is of course platform specific. Also, we are in this project with two other colleges and the other two colleges had already produced a lot of Flash work and were happier using this application.

Nope. Nothing wrong with criticism, but it helps if it is constructive.

There are many sites out there that are designed by people at home using only basic or free tools, some are succesfull, others are not, but I believe that the Internet is a great place for everybody to experiment and learn, not just the so called "professionals". For instance, you are probably using Flash because your budget does not extend to buying Director, or Director was just too complicated for what you need right now. How could I slate you for that? Same thing applies to the guys at home with Frontpage 98.

It helps to make the Internet what it is, and that can only be a good thing.

I'll take the fact that you have no complaints about the code or the programming as a compliment. :oP

As I'm sure you were dying to slate me.

But thanks anyway. I'll pass on your opinion to the designer. As it says on the main page, these are still only prototypes at the moment, so there is always going to be room to change/improve.

Cheers

You are right, but I shall let you off it this will end up as a CD.

OK, the only thing I would say is that it is not very intuitive to use, at some point you explain how to navigate, what all the buttons and different coloured text means, and you really shouldn't need to, but as you say, that is not really your domain.

If you take a look at my original post I think you will see I was neither laughing, nor did I mention anyone's site in particular. It was a general voice of concern where sometimes the basics are ignored.

Which makes it all the more confusing when Whooo took it personally and took it upon himself to be a w@nker.

For God's sake just remembered something else - you may appreciate some of the difficulty involved within this because it's all bilingual. Everything you see or do is to be seen and done in both Welsh and English.

The user is given the choice at the beginning of the resource, but they must be able to jump from one language to another at any time. Although I have written the structure in Flash to allow for this, the Welsh content is only going to be written after trials of the English one and after it's agreed the content is relevant.

That saves us having to translate more than once as any changes to the content will only be in English.

Oops and another thing.

You may think the content takes ages to download, and in some cases it does. This isn't a problem though as they are to be handed out on CD when the project is finished.

Ok, I would like to start again. Getting off on the wrong foot is an understatement, but as you have noticed I am new here.

I'll put up the URL, but would be very grateful if you didn't write to the feedback email address or anything. As I said this URL is supposed to be invisible to people outside the project until it is launched.

The programming and coding is mine. The images, artwork and content are by someone else so if you don't agree with it it ain't my problem. ;)

The design has been split roughtly 66/33 with mine being the 33%. The opening page is mine, along with some of the pages within the resources.

The resources are aimed at educating people in various aspects of the tourism industry in North Wales. It's a KEF project (Knowledge Exploitation Fund - a European project) that was being funded to July 31, but we've had an extension to December as they feel the project so far is very successful.

We need to find at least 30 beneficieries for each resource, and a single person counts as a beneficiery so this should not be a problem.

I left college last summer, got the job in September and started learning Flash in November/December.

There, that's a little background knowledge for you all to enjoy before you see the work. The work is at http://www.surrender.screaming.net/kef.html .

I'm expecting a slating for every little aspect that you are't happy with, so bring it on.
