Wow! A Gamecube owner who hasn't bought Mario Sunshine yet.
:D

A lot of people own pc's, but play games on a console. Me for one. My PC is not upto the job of running many of the new games, but it is good enough for work, etc. So I use the PS2 console for running games. I also prefer to run games on a console. When I had a new computer some time ago, I still preferred to use the console for games. No installation, no crashing, no requirement to update the software, etc, etc.
That said the SIms is a good game. And for the reasons I have already stated am very pleased to see it arrive on PS2. Also from the footage I have seen, the new 3d engine makes the PS2 version even better than the PC version. There must also be a number of PS2 users out there that don't have a PC, but do know what the SIMS is like and will be very happy that an improved 3d version is set for PS2 release.

Why be so quick to rubbish a 3D version of the SIMS? Thats a very big step forward for the game. The ability to walk around the environment is much needed and the game will be better for it.

that makes about as much sense as anything else you've said so far, the PS2 is owned by a lot of people, and has been out for two years more, so what? you've failed to finish your paragraph with a point. something vital in an arguement.

It's got a 3D engine and a single player game, but not just a straight port, I find that hard to believe. The sequel to the sims called simsville which actually looked and sounded 10 times better than the original was canned by EA, the reason, they where afraid that if they changed the basic formula of the sims too much, the would loose some of the dedicated fan base they built up on their first sims game.
That's why I think the PS2 version won't have much in the way of difference or indeed improvement. I suspect it will just be the PC sims but in 3D. With the PS2 markets being bigger than the PC one, and with allot more younger gamers as well, I think it safe to say the game will become a hit despite it being crap. It's infected the PC games chart for 3 years; now it has the PS2 games chart to infect.
My memories of successful PC games on PS2 are heinous (if that makes sense).
Red Alert (classic/brilliant/best ever etc) = Crap on PS. Total and utter rubbish.
Same with Commandos 2 and The Sims (which is awful anyway).
Ah well. I could just buy any of those games for cheaper on my PC.
Ho-hum.
Oh God I'm jealous, why can't the Gamecube have such an overrated pile of trash available for it?
End of subject.
I like PS2, but I'm not so closed-minded that I think every PS2 game that isn't going on every other console at the same time is a bonus.
