Now I really didnt want to touch this subject again, but seriously this is becoming a joke.
I am referring to these very forum. In the recent months it became flooded with pointless spam and one word replies. Things totally got outof hand in the past 4 weeks or so. All decent topics were flushed down the list and they were replaced by things like "Can you wait for MGS2?". Maybe some of you regard these forums as a place to chat liek you would chat with your mates in school. Some use text language, things like brb gr8 and wot? Why that laziness?
I have been especially concerned with the fact that people who spend long times writing their topics simply do not get the credit they deserve. This is due to the relative lack of feedback from many of you. Once a person sees a long post, they think to themselves-"Nah I cant be bothered to read all that" abd start spamming.
Some of us even think that every long post is a GAD attempt and therefore does not reflect on the writer's feelings and emotions.
As Pro Evo said in the Longest Thread, many of people who are writing long, worth-a-read topics cannot be credited for anything just because seconds after a post is written it is beaten by hordes of MGS2 and GTA3 posts.
I do not want to be a big-head but to be honest in the last few weeks this forum only had 3-4 people post good posts that were actually interesting to read-Pro Evo, SSX Pro, Wookiee Monster and me. Now I am not trying to say my or anyone elses posts are sheer class, but I dont think anyone can argue that there has been hardly no people who posted long thought-provoking posts.
So could we just stop this spam and try and get this forum back ot its feet. AFter all this is one of the most-visited places on SR...And what kind of example are we setting here???

Just imagine all of the GTA3 threads, all combined into one great big topic.....ok, yep, ok got all 5000 posts in there!
Now go and find some usefull information....jeepers creepers it's going to take a long long time.
I think games are a whole lot thourough now. There are lots more things to talk about hence all the topics. E.g. GTA3 has so many different options and things to do that it is hard to cover them all in one topic. I admit multiple stupid topics about xbox is stupid and not needed. After all we don't need telling it's not as good as PS2 :D
Well look what happens when your away for a couple of days, come back to find Goatboy has caused a right old commotion over in FOG, 200+ posts, wow, and in only a couple of days!
Glad to see this topic is still being discussed and with much enthusiasm, although I notice that this topic is starting to slide down the slippery slope to darkness.
LOL at KR's comment about Gran Turismo 3, so what were saying here is that GT3 is/was the start of our downfall and all subsequent decent games that were/are released are going to go this way?
If this is the case then at least we're going to be prepared but in the future perhaps if we just ignore the stupid posts and just keep one topic alive, unless of course someone posts something worth while.
I've tried to catch up with as much as I can from the posts and there have been some good ideas, hopefully they'll be put into action by the majority here, without the need to rope in SR staff. Maybe just maybe, the JATs will start to take note of the fact that no-one is posting in their stupid one line one word titled topics and try and join in with meaningful and well written discussions.......on the otherhand, yeah well you know where I was going!

Back when i was a newish regular we had one topic for each game and that topic always seemed to have over 100 posts in because we always used to tlak about that game only in there.

You are quite right nh, we just need to start doing thoughtful posts and stop writing identical topics every time a good game comes out. I do believe this is going to help us improve the forum and (albeit very slowly) get rid of the spam thats haunting it right now

Aplogies to all if I seemed rather annoyed last night ( I was). It wasn't on and didn't really help the topic much. It turned out to be quite lonely in Xbox forum so I went off to kill a few scumbags in Max Payne :)
I think Pro Evo is right, the best thing to do now is to come up with as many decent topics as possible and just post them, it doesn't have to be a contender for GAD, just a paragraph, or if you want help a punctuated sentence.
