Definitely backwards compatible games so I would be able to sell the Xbox for a bit of extra cash but still play my games on the Xbox 2.
Also it would be cool if MS let us play ROMs on the console (licensed of course :P)

Backwards compatability would definately persuade me to buy one.

Being able to surf the net - perhaps a little tight keyboard could slide in & out from the base of the machine.
Generally speaking for the next generation of consoles: I'd like to see a new software medium - something like some of the Sony mini-discs which are CDs inside a protective casing - a sort of half-way house between CD and cartridge.

Backwards compatability.....better hardware.
I dont really want a multientertainment system as i have cd player and all that stuff....and 3 DVD player cause of this console wars :(
